Expert Analysis
Chris Robinson | Prep Hoops Scout
McGowan put on a high-IQ scoring display, proving to be one of the more patient and polished perimeter guards at the expo. Standing 6’2”, the Rufus King prospect knocked down jumpers in a variety of ways. He fluidly transitioned between catch-and-shoot opportunities and off-dribble pull-ups. Operating comfortably both on and off the ball, McGowan excelled at letting plays develop, using great balance and strength to absorb contact when reaching his sweet spots. As a 2028 prospect with a mature frame and advanced court feel, McGowan is primed for a major rise in stock over his next two seasons.

McGowan had a major two-way impact for Jay Academy . Offensively, he controlled the tempo with his tight handle and composed decision-making, particularly under pressure. He was rarely sped up, often resetting the offense when things got chaotic. On the defensive end, his sharp instincts led to deflections and turnovers, especially in trapping and passing lane situations.

McGowan displayed a high level pace with the ball in his hands. He created his own shot with ease via his tight handle. I was really impressed with his ability to speed-stop and put up some soft jumpers in the mid range area.
