Expert Analysis
Todd Fertig | Prep Hoops Scout
We knew Hawthorne was really good from watching him on the summer circuit. He established himself as a junior on St. James’ state tournament team. But boy did he blossom as a senior. A wing who could do it all, he got most of his recognition for big point outbursts. But don’t overlook all the other good stuff he did as a senior: 21 points, 6 reb, 5 asst, 3 steals.

Hawthorne is back to build on a great junior season. He led his team to third place in the 5A tournament and racked up 50 points in three state playoff games. With Sam Somerhalder gone to graduation, Hawthorne will be the leader. He averaged 4.5 assists and can score and defend too.

Hawthorne is a big riser from the grassroots run and with a monster high school season that is predicted, will be another big leaper in the next update as well. A great lead guard with poise, play making, shot making, and defensive ability. Really good decision maker off ball screens and can get to the mid range pull up game and is efficient from there. The St James guard can also score it well in the paint.
