Cernicky is a physical guard who thrives as a downhill attacker and embraces contact whenever he gets to the paint. He has good footwork around the basket and does a nice job taking advantage of smaller guards on the interior. His ability to finish through traffic, including using acrobatic finishes around the rim, makes him a difficult cover when he gets momentum. He flashed some intriguing potential in the AAU game I watched this April, consistently putting pressure on the defense with his aggressive style of play. With a larger opportunity likely awaiting him, Cernicky should be in line for an expanded role with his high school team this upcoming season.
