Expert Analysis
Chris Robinson | Prep Hoops Scout
April was the heartbeat of Kiel’s offense, a steady hand who made smart decisions and delivered in big moments. His leadership and ability to break down defenses made him the team’s most dependable player throughout the season. He finished the year with 15 points, 5 assists, and 2 steals per game. April’s highlight of the year was a 26-point outing against Sheboygan Falls, where he also added 6 assists and hit four threes in a strong all-around showing.

Those who follow Kiel basketball closely know of the considerable abilities of Aprill. The rest of the high school basketball landscape figures to find out about the considerable talents of Aprill this winter as he assumes leadership and go-to scoring roles for the Raiders. At 6-foot-2 and with good phyiscal strength, Aprill can score over smaller defenders or take slower opponents off the dribble and score at the rim. He can also pop in some three-point jump shots. Aprill played a bit in the shadow of talented seniors Pierce Arenz, Grant Manz and Jack Heckmann a year ago. But he figures to shine this time around as he becomes to first option on offense for Kiel.

Braden showcased some impressive change of speed last night as he was able to constantly get to the basket. Really crafty finisher at the rim who mixed in some reverse lay-ups while also being able to power straight up to score in traffic. Makes good use of shot-fakes and pass-fakes to get defenders committed in one direction before attacking in the opposite. He’s always passing in moving and that helped lead to better overall ball movement from his team.
