-Came away impressed with Kalaw’s leadership, IQ, and communication during our Expo this past month. Kalaw understands angles and uses pump fakes/jabs to throw his defender off balance before attacking the paint. But again the intangibles really stood out as a floor general that communicates ball screens, puts his body on the line for 50/50 balls and drawing charges, and picks up his teammates both on the floor and on the sideline. Would like to see him add more burst with the ball in his hands and turn to sprint to meet his matchup at the spot instead of sliding with his man. Should be a key piece for SJCP this upcoming season.

Blaine impressed our scout team with his clear leadership on the floor amongst his peers. Did a solid job of communicating out to his teammates to help produce wins. It was clear that Blaine knew what to do with the ball in his hands, even when he wasn’t scoring his own shots. Blaine picked up plenty of assists and focused on creating the best shot possible for the team by getting into the right positions and keeping his head up for openings. Used his frame well as a bigger guard that can get downhill and also knock down the 3. Looks to help lead a hungry St. John’s Catholic Prep squad this season.

Kalaw is a dual-threat guard who impacts the game as both a scorer and playmaker. He thrives in transition, makes sharp reads, and has the vision to find teammates in scoring positions. His ability to control pace while still applying scoring pressure makes him a tough matchup.
