Expert Analysis
Jay Frye | Prep Hoops Scout
Kohler owns excellent size for a perimeter player and already possesses the physical tools coaches covet. His length allows him to defend multiple positions while giving him value as a help-side rebounder. Offensively, he projects as a complementary scorer capable of spacing the floor and attacking closeouts. Continued improvement as a perimeter shooter could significantly raise his ceiling.

Defensively, on the perimeter, he displayed the ability to switch and guard multiple positions, sliding laterally with guards while also holding his own against bigs and forwards. Constantly in rotation and never standing still, his length, motor, and activity shrunk driving lanes, while his ability to contest at the high point made every jump shot uncomfortable. Offensively, he played with excellent use of his body and length, shielding the ball from defenders, creating separation with subtle bumps, and establishing deep positioning in the paint. He read the defense in real time, making quick decisions that allowed him to score efficiently whether facing up, attacking off the dribble, or operating with his back to the basket.

Defensive anchor not only as a shot blocker and rim protector, but also as a defensive rebounder who neutralized possessions with length and burst to snatch boards at their peak. He didn’t shy away from contact, competing nonstop and battling in the trenches. Offensively, he proved to be a spot-up shooting threat from the outside, stretching the defense for kick out and hit-ahead opportunities early in the offense.

Demonstrated tremendous skill and touch around the basket. One sequence stood out while fighting for a rebound. Secured the ball with the right hand, shifted it to the left, and finished with a smooth Mikan-style move through traffic. Tough defender that competes physically. Sets solid screens, rolls hard, and consistently runs the floor beating players to the rim on both ends.
