Kickapoo is 21-1, ranked No. 1 among WIAA Division 5 teams in the Prep Hoops Wisconsin/WBCA poll and the champions of the Ridge & Valley Conference. And Walter definitely is a big key to the Panthers’ success. He has grown some from a year ago and now is listed at 6-foot-8. And he uses his size and length to disrupt things when he’s playing defense. He is averaging 10.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots per game while also leading the squad in scoring at 16.4 ppg. In the Panthers’ 85-80 overtime win at North Crawford in January, Walter finished with 28 points, 19 rebounds and two blocked shots. His emergence is a major reason Kickapoo is considered one of the favorites to hoist the Division 5 Gold Ball at the Kohl Center next month.
