Ness is a skilled offensive player in that he can pop in three-point shots on any given possession while also using his quickness and shiftiness to get into the lane and to the basket. He scored from the foul line as well for Team 10 in its outing against Team 9, finishing with a team best 16 points. Ness is on the smaller side, but he makes up for his lack of height with his quickness, his basketball savvy and his peskiness on the defensive end of the floor. Ness is a returning starter for coach Freddie Riley at Menomonee Falls and averaged 13 points as a junior for a 13-12 squad.

I didn’t get to see Anthony in any of the 5v5 games, but during the 3v3 portion of The Expo, Ness was the most dominant player I saw. He may have been the quickest player in attendance on Sunday, and with the extra spacing in a 3v3 setting he was able to get to just about any spot he wanted to. Anthony can hesitate and then blow by you to get to the rim and finish, but was also draining pull-up jumpers with comfort. He averaged just over 12 points per game last season as a junior, but with Menomonee Falls graduating their top two scorers, he could take on an even bigger role as a senior.

Ness controlled the pace for Team Phoenix, bringing structure and clarity to each possession. His downhill attack opened up space, and his ability to decelerate and adjust around the rim made him a handful in the lane. Ness’s vision and leadership from the point guard position were instrumental in his team’s success.

Anthony had one of the biggest individual performances of the weekend, absolutely taking over in the second half against All Wisconsin. The Menomonee Falls guard was getting to his spots off the dribble, and connected on a number of pull-up jumpers from both mid-range and three. So quick getting to his spots with the ability to stop on a dime for a jumper. Could also hesitate to freeze his man before blowing by and finishing with the left hand. I rarely see players get face guarded in the spring/summer, but that’s how All Wisconsin was forced to defend him down the stretch.
