In a battle between 20 win squads in a sectional final, Taggart was able to push his team to a one point victory over host Dover to advance to the district semis for the first time in over a decade for Riverside. Taggart is a tough cover with his ability to change pace with crossovers and keep the defense on their toes. Taggart is also a capable finisher with either hand at the rim and knocked down a key 3-pointer in the third quarter. During the Beavers big run, it was Taggart playing set up man for Charlie Fox Charlie Fox 6'2" | SG Painesville Riverside | 2023 State OH as the biggest highlight of the game was when Taggart dropped the ball off to a trailing Fox who hit a massive 3-pointer in rhythm. Riverside is having one of their best seasons in school history and the duo of Taggart and Fox are the biggest reasons why.

A tough nosed guard, Taggart fits a lot of the qualities that high level Division III guards have. I was impressed by the toughness Taggart plays with and his ability to finish with two feet at the rim is something that will translate to the next level. The biggest area for improvement with Taggart is his 3-point shot, if he can consistently make shots from that area, the defense will have to respect his jumper, further opening up dribble drive lanes for him to operate. Riverside have had one of their best seasons in recent memory and a lot of that can be credited to Taggart’s play this season.

Taggart also stood out for Riverside as they continue their early unbeaten season. A downhill slasher, Taggart is really good off the dribble drive game getting to the rack and either finishing or dishing to a teammate. Not much of an outside shooter, Taggart did knock down a circus shot from 25 feet to end the first quarter and one wide open mid-range pull-up. I was impressed with Taggart’s control when attacking the basket, playing off two feet and using his strength to finish. I expect Taggart to be high on the lists for OAC schools once they start recruiting the 2024 class in depth.
