Poindexter is primed for a big year and could be one of the top players in the Charlottesville area after an impressive summer where he caught our eyes as a highly skilled guard who can impact the game in a lot of ways. He’s able to create for himself and others off the bounce with a good handle and change of pace, he reads defenses well and makes sound decisions with the ball in his hands, he’s a dead eye shooter from deep with in the gym range and a quick trigger, and he brings that same IQ to the defensive end where he’s always in the right spot and anticipates well to jump passing lanes.

Poindexter continues to impress this spring with Team Hustle and recently delivered a standout 21-point performance in Virginia Beach when we watch him just a few weeks ago. One of the better perimeter shooters we evaluated, he is a high IQ guard who understands how to impact winning in multiple ways. Poindexter is a confident shot maker with deep range who can create his own offense off the bounce or make plays off the catch. He plays with poise, makes smart decisions with the basketball, and consistently comes through with winning plays on both ends of the floor. His combination of shooting ability, feel for the game, and offensive skill set makes him a difficult matchup for defenders.

The sophomore is a quick, scoring point guard who consistently puts pressure on the defense. He gets into the paint with ease, creates advantages off the dribble, and is a confident shot maker from both the perimeter and midrange. He has a strong feel for the game, makes winning plays, and understands how to control tempo and impact the game in key moments. His combination of scoring ability, decision making, and instincts makes him a highly effective lead guard.
