-Had a few good looks at the basket rim out that would’ve landed him close to 20 points on the night but Waheed still found ways to impact the game. An underrated scoring option from the top of the key, Waheed operated well in space to V cut into a C+S wing 3 off the fade, hit a backdoor cut for the extension finger roll off glass, and hit his defender with a well-executed jab to get them off balance and get all the way to the rim to score.

today, and he more than held his own. Akbar is a great shooter, and he can get his own when attacking the rim. He had a tough and 1 that was preceded by a bucket he had earlier to cut into Highland’s lead. Akbar is a good passer and competes on defense as well. He finishes with 21 points.

The scoring numbers weren’t quite there, but Waheed III’s playmaking and feel routinely popped. He just seemed to always make the right decision when creating for others from extra swing passes to drive and kicks and a sensational cross court skip pass out of pick-and-roll. He’ll always be able to rely on his live dribble playmaking and connecting passing to impact games if he isn’t scoring.

It was hard leaving Akbar off of either of my DMVlive teams, considering he was the best player on a Georgetown Prep team that didn’t lose a game. Akbar did it all for Georgetown Prep, and even when his shot wasn’t falling, his passing and rebounding were impactful. Akbar is a high-IQ basketball player and a great catch-and-shoot shooter. He averaged 18.5 PPG and 9.5 RPG in session one and then averaged 17 PPG, 9.3 RPG, and 6 APG in session 2.

Akbar Waheed had a huge bounce-back day for Georgetown Prep in a close win over Combine Academy. Akbar was massive down the stretch of this game. He knocked down big shots and had a phenomenal game. Akbar has an all-around game, and his IQ and skill are what I love about his game. He’s a great spot-up shooter and moves well without the ball. Akbar finished with 28 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists.

Even in the games Akbar struggled with his shot this weekend he still gave Georgetown Prep great defense and rebounding. Akbar is an all-around fantastic player and was the best player on a Georgetown Prep team that went 2-0 on the day to cap off their 4-0 weekend. He totaled 12/22 from the field in two games and had 33 points. He also had 17 rebounds.

-Waheed got it going in the 2H, scoring 22 of his 24 in the final two frames while showing his inside-out scoring ability. His offensive rebounding and perimeter shooting led his team back in the game, cutting a 12-point deficit at the end of the 3Q down to as low as 5 points. His ability to serve as a play-making hub from the high post, rebounder, off-ball shooter, and solid defender were invaluable to the Hoyas this season.
