Expert Analysis
Matt LaSalle | Prep Hoops Scout
Rodriguez had himself a tremendous senior campaign, where he led FBA to 21-6 record and trip to the Regional Semi-Finals. The 6’6″ senior has great size and strength from the guard position and isn’t afraid to bang around down low either. He can guard every position 1-5, and likes to finish around them rim, but also has a very nice touch from the outside. Rodriguez had a dominate opening round performance in a win over Cardinal Mooney, where he recorded 22 points and 11 rebounds, and he was able to keep his Lions right with Berkeley Prep in the 2nd round, doing a little bit of everything, but eventually came up just short, ending an outstanding career for a great player.

This 6’6″ CG isn’t afraid to bang down low, he can beat you in the paint or from the outside. Rodriguez is solid in the post, but also has a quick first step which allows him to get by the smaller guards and create mismatches. Not only can he score at the rim with both hands but has an above-average mid-range game, and can knock down the 3-ball consistently. With his size and athleticism he is able to guard any position, and is a double-double machine for FBA. He’s averaging 21.8 ppg, 13 rpg, and 1.5 apg, with a season-high of 27 points coming in a huge victory over Lehigh, where he knocked down the game winner with seconds to go. Look for Rodriguez to continue to lead his FBA squad in 2024, after a 10-1 start and an undefeated month of December.

Rodriguez looks to be the leader of this revamped FBA squad early into this season. The 6’6″ senior plays the game hard and will do whatever the team needs. He is a big, strong kid who rebounds the ball well on the both ends of the court and isn’t afraid to bang down low. He has great athleticism for his size which make him very tough defend. He is quick off the floor and likes to finish at the basket, but also has very nice 3-point shot which he knocks down consistently. Rodriguez has helped propel his team to a 7-1 record, most notably with a 24 pt performance in a win over then undefeated Cypress Lake.
