Coats is just so physically gifted and had an excellent season. He could be the toughest player to guard 1 on 1 in the entire bracket.

Why? Because he’s just that talented, He’s an athletic guard that can make plays on the offensive end. Coats can slide into a change of direction and can bury a jumper, not just off the bounce, but on the run. Coats would have a chance to turn a lot of heads at The Expo.

I really like what Coats brings to the table as a player and prospect. He has that look as a basketball player. Coats strides in the open floor and can get off the ground quickly. I really like his ease of movement, specifically the way he turns his hips and effortlessly changes direction.

I was so impressed with Coats’ play this season. I believe that he has high major upside to his game. He’s a smooth athlete that can make plays with the ball, but will work hard without it as well.

I was really looking forward to getting a good look at this young man’s game. Man am I glad I did. Coats scored with a fast first step from the free throw line for a 2 step score. He showed his game IQ when he snuck behind the defense for an alley-oop dunk finish off the baseline. Coats added multiple transition dunks to his highlight reel that night. He showed a willingness and ability to pass when he fed his teammate for a bucket in transition.

Coats has made it clear that he can and will continue the tradition of elite players, like Gabe Brown for instance, roaming the Belleville hallways. Coats is at his best when he gets downhill with the ball in his hands. He can maneuver around defenders and finish at the rim as well as make plays for his teammates. Coats is ultra shifty with the ball in his hands and has terrific body control while in motion.
