Continue ReadingIn an effort to provide new and unique ways to cover prospects, we thought it would be important to give some coverage to those that might not always get it. To do that, we will be digging deep into each conference in the state.
We will be breaking down each conference starting with the Class of 2021 first to show college coaches who they need to be placing a value on heading into the year.
We will continue to go through each conference to try and hit as many players as possible with the hopes of helping these seniors-to-be catch the attention of prospective college coaches.
Ryan Blum Ryan Blum 6'4" | SF Glenwood | 2021 State IA – Glenwood
Night in and night out last year, Glenwood’s Ryan Blum Ryan Blum 6'4" | SF Glenwood | 2021 State IA delivered, averaging almost 20 points and over nine rebounds per game.
Blum was an effective scorer from all spots on the court, shooting 48 percent from the floor with 48 made three-pointers. He also sank 65.5 percent of his free throws, adding 47 assists, 36 blocks and 34 steals.
He was also named the conference player of the year this past season. Blum has received an offer from Dordt.
Sam Rallis Sam Rallis 6'1" | PF St. Albert | 2021 State IA – Council Bluffs St. Albert
In 2020-21, Council Bluffs St. Albert will try to build around returning talent such as Class of 2021’s Sam Rallis Sam Rallis 6'1" | PF St. Albert | 2021 State IA .
Rallis paced St. Albert in scoring and rebounding a year ago, averaging 15.4 points and eight boards. He shot an incredible 71 percent from the field, making 141 of 199 attempts.
Along with recording 369 points and 194 rebounds, Rallis also had 96 steals, 43 assists and blocked 11 shots, making 83 of 122 free throws.
Skyler Handlos Skyler Handlos 6'2" | SF Atlantic | 2021 State IA – Atlantic
Atlantic’s Skyler Handlos Skyler Handlos 6'2" | SF Atlantic | 2021 State IA produced 332 points, 76 rebounds, 34 assists, 29 blocks and 10 steals last year for the Trojans, finishing among the team leaders in all of those categories.
Handlos shot nearly 42 percent from the field, making 26 three-pointers on the season. His percentages should go up, which will result in even more production for the Trojan senior-to-be.
Michael Shull – Clarinda
A standout multi-sport athlete, Clarinda’s Michael Shull had an exceptional assist-to-turnover ration last year, averaging nearly two assists for every turnover.
Shull finished with 187 points, 112 rebounds, 96 assists and 39 steals, shooting 46 percent from the floor with 14 made triples.
Brance Baker Brance Baker 6'0" | CG Creston | 2021 State IA – Creston
Creston’s Brance Baker Brance Baker 6'0" | CG Creston | 2021 State IA averaged 14.5 points and over five rebounds per game a season ago, and he will have his sights set on even more this coming winter.
Baker shot 46 percent from the field, 33 percent from the three-point line and almost 76 percent from the free throw line, finishing with 320 points, 115 rebounds, 57 assists and 45 steals.
