Earlier in the month we talked about some of Florida’s top-notch student athletes, with an emphasis on student. Today we continue with that theme taking a look at some more future doctors, engineers, and business leaders of America. In addition to being talented athletes these are some guys whose grades will make them eligible for a majority of colleges and universities around the country.

PF [player_tooltip player_id="714885" first="Matthew" last="Lentz"] 6-7 205 (2021) Durant (Plant City)

GPA: 3.8 SAT: 1220 Major: Undecided

A skilled Stretch 4, Lentz has the potential to be a matchup nightmare at the next level. He can really stretch the floor shooting around 30 percent from deep, or put it on the floor. Often driving to his right and spinning to his left to score, Lentz has shown the ability to finish with either hand. After averaging 15 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks as a junior, the big man looks to have a huge senior season after working on his ball handling, and post game this summer.

PF [player_tooltip player_id="818688" first="Makye" last="Boles"] 6-6 220 (2021) Grandview Prep (Boca Raton)

GPA: 3.9 Desired Major: Computer science/Electrical Engineering

To say that [player_tooltip player_id="818688" first="Makye" last="Boles"] is a good shooter would be a disrespectful understatement. Last season Boles shot an incredible 48 percent from 3 sinking a total of 28. With a solid mid range game, the big man can score from all over the court. Leading a young 20-8 Grandview Prep team, he was the top rebounder averaging 7.3 per game and second in scoring at 15.5 points per game. As Boles continues to work on his ball handling and lateral quickness, more schools should come calling.

PG [player_tooltip player_id="818864" first="Landon" last="Brody"] 5-10 165(2021) St Andrews (Boca Raton)

GPA: 5.2 ACT: 34 Desired Major: Business/Engineering

On a team that has several other college basketball prospects, it can be hard at times to gain the proper recognition that is deserved. [player_tooltip player_id="818864" first="Landon" last="Brody"] is a prime example of this, sharing the court with a Yale bound big man and two other juniors that have already captured the attention of several Division I coaches. Last season the floor general had many nights where he showed promise, including a 5-point, 6-assist effort in the state semi finals. Shooting 37 percent from 3 and setting up teammates, Brody thrived as a roll player for the class 3A state champions. Next season Brody plans to show off his improvements as a defender, and his polished offensive game.

SF/PF Miles Stewart 6-7 195 (2021) Lake Highland Prep (Orlando)

GPA: 3.7 Desired Major: Undecided

With good size and length, Stewart has a lot of potential as a stretch four at the next level. This past season he started at forward for the 24-7 State semifinalist Highlanders. Sharing the court with several other division I prospects, Stewart led the team in rebounds with 6 per contest while averaging 8 points, and shooting 33 percent from deep. A bit of a late bloomer, don’t be surprised to see Stewart grow a couple more inches and pack on several pounds of muscle. His father Michael “Yogi” Stewart is 6-10, and played in the NBA for several years. The best days of basketball are still ahead for this young man.

SF Kordell Brown 6-6 180 (2021) Avon Old Farms (Connecticut)

GPA: 4.4 SAT: 1120 Desired Major: Pre-Pharmacy

Starting on a senior laden team that included Hofstra bound [player_tooltip player_id="552703" first="David" last="Green"], and Illinois State bound Alston Andrews, Brown was at times the best player on the court for Ocoee. Last season the long athletic forward averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds per game for the state quarterfinalist Knights. A matchup nightmare, Brown often takes advantage of mismatches in the post, and on the perimeter. Originally the class of 2020, Brown decided to do a post grad year to polish his perimeter game, and get stronger. Ivy Leagues are taking notice!
