Obviously times are different right now, but several guys have still seen offers come in. Today, I highlight 5 seniors that have picked up more than one offer so far this Spring even with no AAU.
Jalin Billingsley Jalin Billingsley 6'8" | PF Lutheran East | 2021 State #187 Nation OH (Lutheran East)- offers from Cincinnati, Georgetown, Penn State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia)
The 6’7 Billingsley has went from being a low major target within the MAC to one of the state’s top prospects, attracting the attention of multiple D1s covering multiple conferences. Schools likely are impressed with his versatility and combination of size and skill. I feel West Virginia would be a good fit with Coach Huggins history of recruiting Ohio players. However, I could also see Penn State or Georgetown being favorites.
Kobe Johnson Kobe Johnson 6'4" | SG Canton McKinley | 2021 State #233 Nation OH (Canton McKinley)- offers from California, Cleveland State, Kent State, Ohio, Youngstown State
Johnson had seen a lot of interest from MAC and Horizon League schools before picking up a HUGE offer from California late last month. The 6’3 senior guard was already a highly touted prospect out of NE Ohio, but now questions are being raised to if he could attract more high major attention? Cal comes in from the Pac-12, which rarely recruits into Ohio, but Johnson has the scoring potential and overall skillset as a guard to potentially attract some Big East/Big Ten interest.
AJ Braun AJ Braun 6'9" | C Fenwick | 2021 State OH (Fenwick)- offers from Boston, Bucknell, Elon, Lehigh, William & Mary)
While some of these schools recruiting Braun may not be household names, all are D1 programs that are very interested in the skilled big man. At 6’9, Braun is one of the best true Centers in the state and with his size and rebounding tenacity should excel as a PF or C at the D1 level. Also holds an offer from Ohio University. Do not be surprised if more schools, especially in the MAC, begin to express further interest in the Fenwick big man.
Isaiah Walker Isaiah Walker 6'5" | SG Wyoming | 2021 State OH (Wyoming)- offers from Akron, Loyola (IL), Rice, Toledo, Winthrop)
Walker owns an astonishing 17 offers currently from D1 schools, and that number is likely to rise even more as the season further approaches. The 6’5 wing has shown he can score the ball at a high level as well as be a leader for a Wyoming group that was undefeated a year ago. I see him fitting in well at Toledo or Akron among some of the other schools.
Malaki Branham Malaki Branham 6'5" | SG St. Vincent-St. Mary | 2021 State #26 Nation OH (Akron SVSM)- offers from Dayton, Florida, Iowa, Louisville, Pittsburgh)
The state’s top 2021 prospect has attention from virtually every conference at the high major level. When you look at some of Branham’s recent offers, you see this is truly a high major caliber guard that could see himself playing in an NCAA tournament or 3. The 6’5 guard has a good feel for the game and offensively is impressive with his length and strong upper body.
