In our latests rankings coverage, we wanted to regionalize the lists a little more, here are Orange County’s best from No.’s 16-20.
16. Paxton Burzell Paxton Burzell 6'8" | PF JSerra | 2021 State CA-S , 2021, JSerra – Burzell is one of the more skilled low-post players in Orange County high school hoops. The long, wiry 6-foot-8 rising senior has good touch around the basket, has some back to the basket scoring ability and does a nice job of competing on the offensive and defensive glass.
17. Isaac Peralta Isaac Peralta 6'2" | PG JSerra | 2022 CA-S , 2022, JSerra – Peralta will likely inherit the starting point guard position and it will be good to see him get the opportunity to run the Lions’ offense. The 6-footer is a confident ball handler, high IQ decision-maker and a super crafty finisher around the basket. One thing that stands out about Peralta’s game is the effort he gives on the defensive end of the floor.
18. Roddie Anderson Roddie Anderson 6'1" | PG Fountain Valley | 2022 State CA-S , 2022, Fountain Valley – Anderson is a tough, high motor point guard who is difficult to cover in transition. The 6-foot-1 rising junior gets downhill quickly and uses his speed and strength to blow-by defenders and get into the paint where he can finish through contact. Anderson is another active on-ball defender who makes a lot of good things happen on that end of the floor.
19. Pape Lamine Niang Pape Lamine Niang 6'9" | C Fairmont Prep | 2022 CA-S , 2022, Fairmont Prep – Niang does a really nice job of using his size, length and defensive timing to serve as Fairmont Prep’s last line of defense as both a shot blocker and high rate defensive rebounder. The 6-foot-9 center has some work to do with his offensive skill-set, but he brings good energy and effort to the offensive glass.
20. Andrew Cook Andrew Cook 6'2" | SG Servite | 2021 State CA-S , 2021, Servite – Cook has some throwback feel to his offensive game as he is most comfortable operating at the mid-range level of the floor. The 6-foot-2 guard uses his footwork to create space on the perimeter in order to get into his potent mid-range pull-up jumper. Cook has the ball skills and shiftiness to break down defenders in isolation and get into the paint to put pressure on the rim.
