Over the next few weeks I will begin a new series called “Quarantine Film Review”. It will entail write ups on games that none of the Prep Hoops scouts went to. I will mainly focus on underclassmen and unsigned seniors to provide coverage for college coaches. In this first edition of the series, I take a look at Baltimore Poly vs St. John’s from the Beach Ball Classic on December 28th 2019. St. John’s won by a final score of 62-56.

[player_tooltip player_id="957018" first="Amani" last="Hansberry"] Shows Off Eliteness

Hansberry established himself early in this game as SJC played through the talented big man from the 2023 class. He showed his great touch around the rim, good footwork and put his head down and went to work against [player_tooltip player_id="531175" first="Justin" last="Lewis"] and [player_tooltip player_id="773622" first="Brandon" last="Murray"] multiple times in the game. He was tenacious on the boards and provided many second chance opportunities for the Cadets against a national ranked power in Poly.

The [player_tooltip player_id="773622" first="Brandon" last="Murray"] Blowup

It seems as if the blowup from Brandon started at this event in South Carolina. He shot it at a high level during the entire tournament in December finishing with 19 points against SJC including 5/7 from deep. He single handedly kept Poly in the game until the final horn against SJC because of his willingness to score the basketball.

Potential In [player_tooltip player_id="957019" first="Kwame" last="Evans"]

The upside and potential stood out right away from Evans who is currently ranked second in our 2023 MD/DC rankings. Evans already stands at 6’7 with great length. Once he grows into his body and grows into a more dominant role at Poly, it will be scary going up against Evans on a nightly basis.

John "Manzie" Wilson Shows Off Quickness

At this time Manzie is still unsigned but is a kid that is definitely worthy of a scholarship. In this game against Poly he showed his quick burst and ability to go coast to coast in a matter of seconds. Manzie continues to get better and play his best basketball day by day.

Remember The Name "[player_tooltip player_id="777095" first="Bryce" last="Lindsay"]"

Another player that showed some good potential in this game was 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="777095" first="Bryce" last="Lindsay"]. Known as a shooter, Lindsay showed his deep range against SJC finishing 3 of 5 from deep. Look for Lindsay to establish a bigger role for himself next year at Poly.
