DEER PARK H S has had tremendous duos in the last 5 years. The coming 3 years they will have a duo that will take a backseat to no one. Anthony Daley and Preston Edmead, 2 guards under 6”0 who gave their opponents headaches. They play off each other. Anthony is a lights out shooter from three. Preston who will be a freshman next season knows where and when to get Anthony the ball. Preston can score the ball as well. Both players this past season shot over 42 % from three. Anthony has unlimited range and Preston is extremely quick and knows when to take his man or dish it.
When fans say Northport H S it is usually followed by the sentence ”those guys can shoot”. Well Northport has 2 guys who can really shoot it. Nick Watts a 6”5 rising junior and still growing. A really skilled big man. Can step out and drill the three. Nick is an excellent passer and it is usually Pat Healy (2021) ) on the receiving end. Pat’s mid-range game is deadly. He gets to the rim with his ball handling. A duo who get it done inside and out.
St Doms H S is on its way back to prominence. This past season injuries set them back. Kalil London and Jakai Lester were both expected to play big roles, along with the seniors they had. Both Kalil and Jakai missed time but when they played it was exciting to watch. More importantly, it showed the future is bright. Jakai is a 6”3 (2023) player who gets the job done on both ends of the floor. Can defend the post, good rebounder, and closes out on shooters. He is strong at finishing. Kalil (2022) is a flat out scorer. Gets to the rim and finishes through contact and also can shoot it. Kalil and Jakai are the perfect running mates. Both play the game really hard. Jakai can take a game over by guarding and Kalil takes a game over because he’s hard to guard. These 2 players are not on everybody’s radar, but I believe they are going to be a force and worthy of becoming a dynamic duo.
Uniondale HS has had its share of college players. They regularly play a top schedule and consistently win. Winning should continue for them. Jo Jo Wright is approaching his third year on varsity and is still only a Sophomore. Lightning-fast with the ball. Amazing skill set. His basketball IQ, vision, and awareness are extremely high. A successful high school program with a lot of senior leadership, this young man stepped in and shined. His teammate who is also ready to take on a more prominent role is Jordan Evelyn. On last year’s team he played behind the more heralded names. But his game wasn’t. If it was hitting a key shot or rebounding a free throw miss, Jordan stepped up. This coming season we expect him to combine with Jo Jo to make a formidable pair.
Mount St. Michael HS plays in the CHSAA in the city, home of legendary programs. So when you play against elite schools you better have more than one really good player. With Noah Best and Tyler Hawkins they’re in good shape. D1 schools are checking in on both players. Tyler (2023) is all over the court. A in your face defender, who you can’t shake. Offensively, he is lightning fast and an excellent ball-handler. Has a great pull up jumper. Noah Best compliments Tyler’s aggressive style, with his, in your face play. A strong rebounder and defender. He uses his size well. Still growing. A terrific passer. Two players who know what they do well, and use it to win games.
Eagle academy in Brooklyn has two (2021), players to watch. Zaire Williams Zaire Williams 6'1" | SG Eagle Academy For Young Men Ii | 2021 State NY and Jonte Wallace are two athletic players. Zaire might be the best shooter in the city. He is a hard-working player always looking to improve his craft. Possesses a strong skill set. Could play combo guard at the next level. Jonte is an unselfish player who has tremendous upside. Can guard multiple positions. What makes this duo so good, is that they both can play multiple positions giving their team different ways to use them.
