SoCal’s Best F/C Prospects Regardless of Class (II)

Over the last few months, the SoCal staff has updated its class rankings and provided tons of in-depth coverage on each of those lists. Now it’s time we combine all of the classes to come up with master list of the regions prospects regardless of class. In this piece we take a look at the best forward/center prospects the region has to offer from the classes of 2021, 2022 and 2023.

6. [player_tooltip player_id="954255" first="Elijah" last="Price"], 2022, St. Anthony: Price has an intriguing upside with his defensive instincts to go along with his wiry 6-foot-8 frame. The rising junior is an anticipatory shot blocker who has a quick second jump and good recovery speed if he bites on a shot fake. Price is still raw from an offensive standpoint but has soft hands and good touch around the basket.

7. [player_tooltip player_id="747078" first="Obinna" last="Anyanwu"], 2021, Cathedral Catholic: Anyanwu is one of the more productive players you’ll find in SoCal high school hoops. The 6-foot-7 power forward is a high-rate rebounder who not only dominates his area on the glass, but also pursues and tracks down missed shots that don’t fall into his lap. Offensively, Anyanwu is a power finisher in the painted area who is continuing to work on extending his range.

8. [player_tooltip player_id="747083" first="Nick" last="Davidson"], 2021, Mater Dei: Davidson projects as a modern stretch four with his face-up shooting ability from the mid and three-point ranges. At 6-feet-8, the rising senior is best when spotting up and hitting from the short corner, but can also score inside with his soft hands, touch and fundamental footwork around the basket.

9. [player_tooltip player_id="747082" first="Truman" last="Gettings"], 2021, Harvard-Westlake: Gettings acted as the glue-guy/physical presence for the Wolverines last season as fellow big man [player_tooltip player_id="536629" first="Mason" last="Hooks"] got the majority of the low post touches, but we should see him get plenty of offensive looks now that Hooks is off to Princeton. At 6-feet-8, has a well-built frame and absorbs and finishes through contact in the paint.

10. [player_tooltip player_id="944346" first="Harold" last="Yu"], 2021, Sierra Canyon: Yu got tons of starters minutes for the top team in the state and improved rapidly during that time. The 7-foot-3 senior-to-be improved his conditioning and overall mobility, which led to him being a viable rim protector. Offensively, though he didn’t get many dedicated touches, Yu showed touch around the basket and out to the 15-foot range.
