Continue ReadingWhen you head down South and look at the teams and their play in Region 9 it always seems to be a region that will give you everything they have. That was apparent in state play last season as Dixie High School made it all the way to the final and was able to upset a 4A favorite. With a few players graduating there will be some changes in region power slightly. New School Crimson Cliffs made it’s debut and they did not disappoint.
Dixie High School graduates one of the more notable players they have had in sometime as Noah Lemke Noah Lemke 6'11" | C Dixie | 2020 State UT the Dixie State signee moves on he leaves a big whole in Dixie’s system. Dixie ran a open set that allowed him to generate easy dunks as the help rotated. Next season Dixie is going to rely on Isaac Finlinson Isaac Finlinson 6'6" | CG Dixie | 2021 State UT who has a complete game. He will also be joined by Ethan Bennett Ethan Bennett 6'0" | CG Dixie | 2021 State UT which gives them one of the best backcourts in all of 4A. They will be a different look Dixie than they have been in the past but they will still be good.
Cedar City on the other hand brings back some solid size. They will be lead by Dallin Grant Dallin Grant 6'8" | SF Cedar City | 2021 State #212 Nation UT and Luke Armstrong Luke Armstrong 6'8" | C Cedar City | 2021 State UT two bigs that have skill. Not only will Cedar likely be the favorite in their region but they are arguably one of the best teams coming back in all of 4A.
Snow Canyon could really make a jump with improved play from freshman Lymon Simmons. Lyman is a skilled freshman that held his own against some good competition all year. Snow Canyon could be much improved.
Crimson Ciffs graduates only two players and with a talented freshman group they could really surprise teams with there run and gun style of play. Trei Rockhill can really score in a hurry. Danny Wade Danny Wade 5'10" | PG Crimson Cliffs | 2021 State UT is also another player that could really increase his scoring output.
Hurricane and Desert Hills both graduate a lot of players that contributed to their past success. 6’6 Keegan Munson Keegan Munson 6'6" | CG Desert Hills | 2021 State UT of Desert Hills can really play and he will get help from Reggie Newby. Bubba More and Luke Wright are the only notable players returning for Hurricane.
Canyon View won 5 games last season and they could have a similar year as they loose their two top scorers.
Region 9 will be top heavy but those few teams up top could be tough to beat.
