Who are the top playmakers currently attending school in Prince George’s County? The purpose of this article is to highlight some of the very best, regardless of class. Below you will find, listed in alphabetical order by last name, 10 of the top playmakers from PG County. This is part of a series that will aim to highlight players based on various superlatives.

Note: these superlative lists will not be mutually exclusive. If someone can handle the ball and do something else (i.e. shoot) at a high level, they will be included in both lists.

[player_tooltip player_id="904662" first="Ryan" last="Archey"] | Gwynn Park ’22

One of the first things you’ll notice about Archey is his unselfishness. He doesn’t have to score 20 points to make an impact on the game. Archey’s game is not predicated on that, but instead doing all the little things on both ends that contribute to wins.

[player_tooltip player_id="904653" first="Mikhai" last="Arnold"] | Frederick Douglass ’22

Arnold is a shrewd playmaker with a ton of experience. He’s won a lot of games so far throughout this high school career, and we expect him to win many more. One thing that you have to like about Arnold is how relentless he is. He’s constantly looking for ways to give his team an edge whether he’s playing offense or defending.

[player_tooltip player_id="836479" first="Guy" last="Fauntleroy"] | Riverdale Baptist ’21

Fauntleroy is a two-way playmaker who can lock up but also consistently slice into defenses and create. His on-ball defense is menacing, and so is his ability to get downhill and make positive plays for his team.

[player_tooltip player_id="836506" first="Jaylen" last="Hall"] | New Hope ’21

Hall is as reliable as they come in terms of making plays. Whether it involves scoring or simply running the offense, he’s usually able to deliver the goods.

[player_tooltip player_id="902080" first="Damion" last="Harris"] | Bladensburg ’21

Harris is growing into one of the better all-around guards in PG county. His intelligence, including his understanding of time and score, is one of many ingredients that make him a dependable playmaker.

[player_tooltip player_id="775338" first="Elijah" last="Hawkins"] | DeMatha ’21

Hawkins is known for his ability to make guys around him better. Whether he’s stripping the ball from his man after pressuring him full court, or driving into the lane and dumping the ball off to one of his bigs, he will make at least one or two plays that will "wow" you over the course of each game.

[player_tooltip player_id="957021" first="Jacoi" last="Hutchinson"] | DeMatha ’23

Playmaking appears ingrained into Hutchinson’s overall game. Not only does he get the job done on both ends of the floor, but he’s quickly earned the trust of Coach Jones which says a lot about his ability to make the right play when it matters most.

[player_tooltip player_id="837960" first="Delonte" last="Raynor"] | Fairmont Heights ’22

Surveying the floor is one of the biggest strengths of Raynor’s overall game. With [player_tooltip player_id="900238" first="Markel" last="Norman"] and [player_tooltip player_id="773653" first="Keyshawn" last="Johnson"] heading off to college, expect him to see an uptick in usage and thus his playmaking ability should become even more prominent.

[player_tooltip player_id="904650" first="Willie" last="Rivera"] Jr. | Rock Creek Christian ’22

Rivera is another who will benefit from an uptick in time on the ball next season. He’s always been very good at getting paint touches and making things happen once he does so. Expect Rivera to be a constant threat to change the outcome of games on both ends of the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="904623" first="Trey" last="Thomas"] | Wise ’22

When you watch Thomas play, it almost feels like he has a gravitational pull on the court because of his elite paint getting ability. He is so good at drawing the defense in and kicking the ball out to the open man.
