Most Memorable Performances We Saw in 2019-20: No. 20 Drew Fisher vs. Arrowhead
HARTLAND, Wis. — First place was on the line in the Classic Eight Conference with Arrowhead hosting Oconomowoc on Jan. 10. The Raccoons weren’t expected to be a huge road block in the way of the Warhawks, but the game was much tighter than anticipated most of the way.
Arrowhead eventually pulled away with a 77-56 win thanks to 35 points, 11 rebounds, six blocks, and five assists from Wisconsin commit Carter Gilmore Carter Gilmore 6'7" | SF Arrowhead | 2020 State #250 Nation WI . However, Oconomowoc found themselves trailing just 34-28 at the half and made a nice surge at the start of the final period to give themselves a puncher’s chance.
While Gilmore grabbed the headlines from the win, it was the day Oconomowoc senior point guard Drew Fisher Drew Fisher 6'1" | PG Oconomowoc | 2020 State WI emerged on our radar. With his future school, UW-Whitewater, in attendance, Fisher poured in 29 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Fisher put the Raccoons on his back in the second half and there was a certain calm, fearlessness in his eyes the entire night — even Gilmore switched onto him defensively.
With leading scorer Caleb Flaten-Moore, also a Whitewater commit, in foul trouble, Fisher opted to take control offensively, attempting 19 shots. In fact, Fisher was the only Oconomowoc player in double figures that night.
The final box score won’t reflect it, but Fisher also switched onto Gilmore in the second half and had some eye-opening success versus the 6-foot-8 forward on both ends of the floor. Fisher took Gilmore off the bounce on a couple of occasions and picked his pocket once on the defensive end as well.
Arrowhead asserted their dominance over the final 10 minutes, but Fisher never went away nor let his foot off the gas pedal.
