What are the stipulations? None, really. Regardless of class and regardless of positions, what our top 10?
#1 Sam Vinson Sam Vinson 6'3" | CG Highlands | 2021 State KY , Highlands (2021) – The lone player in the area with commit-able D1 offers, Vinson had a huge Junior season for the Bluebirds and impressed Scott Davenport and Darrin Horn enough to earn offers from Bellarmine and NKU. More of a combo guard than a point, Sam can really fill up a score sheet.
#2 Scotty Draud Scotty Draud 6'6" | SF Beechwood | 2021 State KY , Beechwood (2021) – The top scoring wing in the area, Draud has a chance at 3,000 career points before graduation. A D1 caliber player and a top 10 prospect in the 2021 class as a whole, Scotty has spent the offseason adding considerable bulk in hopes of impressing college coaches this summer, provided AAU happens.
#3 Jacob Meyer Jacob Meyer 6'2" | PG Holy Cross Covington | 2023 #170 Nation GA , Holy Cross (2023) – Meyer is a top Sophomore in the state and has the potential to be a mid major or better D1 player by graduation. What separates Jacob is his athleticism. He’s only about 6’1 but he plays above the rim. If Meyer hits a growth spurt, we could be talking about a Top 150 in America type of player.
#4 Kelly Niece Kelly Niece 6'2" | CG Simon Kenton | 2021 State KY , Simon Kenton (2021) – Probably still not quite 100% back from an ACL tear last April, Niece is a highly skill combo guard that plays predominantly on the ball but can also be an effective shooting guard when needed. Prior to his injury, Kelly was very shifty. Hopefully he gets his cutting back soon and can have a big season to cap off a huge career.
#5 Wyatt Vieth Wyatt Vieth 6'4" | SF St. Henry | 2021 State KY , St. Henry (2021) – One of the best players in the area that doesn’t get enough praise, Vieth is a tough forward who can score the ball at all three levels. St. Henry had their best season in years thanks to Wyatt’s scoring and leadership.
#6 Luke Muller Luke Muller 6'6" | SG Highlands | 2021 State KY , Highlands (2021) – Predominantly a shooter, Muller is among the best catch and shoot wings in the state and is improving as a driver who can get to the rim. With great positional size and his shooting ability, Luke is a high upside prospect with a chance to impress scholarship level coaches.
#7Jude Bessler, St. Henry (2021) – Along with Wyatt Vieth Wyatt Vieth 6'4" | SF St. Henry | 2021 State KY , Bessler helped St. Henry to a 25-5 season and an 18-3 record against regional foes. Bessler brings toughness and a low post presence to the Crusaders and was a breakout performer in the 9th region this season. Heading into his Senior year, St. Henry may be the favorite to win the region.
#8 Joel Iles, Newport Central Catholic (2022) – A skilled forward who led a young NCC team in scoring, Iles is versatile as a 44% shooter from deep but needs to improve as a slasher so he can get to the free throw line more next season.
#9 Aydan Hamilton Aydan Hamilton 6'5" | SG Campbell County | 2023 State KY , Campbell County (2023) – A talented scorer who enjoyed a big Freshman season this year, Hamilton helped the Camels avoid the letdown year that many expected after back to back trips to the state tournament.
#10 Chandler Starks Chandler Starks 6'6" | C Anderson | 2023 State OH , Covington Catholic (2023) – A physical post player who plays below the rim, Starks is in line for a bigger role for the Colonels next season after being a role player this year. A throwback big man, Chandler could be the best post in the northern Kentucky next year.
