Best Scorer
Camden’s DJ Wagner wasted no time getting comfortable at the high school level. He is the next great scorer at Camden just like his father, Dajuan Wagner, was during his time in high school. Wagner is an elite scorer at all three levels. He can create his own shot and get in the lane and score at will. Wagner has a chance to be one of the top scorers in the state over the next three years.
Best Floor General
Simeon Wilcher Simeon Wilcher 6'4" | PG Roselle Catholic | 2023 State #17 Nation NJ was inserted into Roselle Catholic’s starting lineup following an injury to Richie Greaves Richie Greaves 6'0" | PG Roselle Catholic | 2020 State NJ . this proved to be a good move for the Lions because Wilcher emerged as a do it all point guard. He is an incredible athlete who tends to make good decisions on the floor. Roselle Catholic is guard heavy and Wilcher has the ball in his hands a lot. He is an elite passer and at 6’3, can score from anywhere on the floor.
Best Shooter
Wagner led the freshman class in three’s made with 71. He was one of the top shooters in the state. Wagner can shoot from anywhere on the floor and can create well. Other names who can create their own shots include University’s Spencer Joyner Spencer Joyner 6'4" | PG Arts | 2023 State NJ and Saddle Day River’s Richard Machado Richard Machado 6'1" | CG Saddle River Day | 2023 State NJ .
Best Post Player
Mackenzie Mgbako Mackenzie Mgbako 6'8" | SF Roselle Catholic | 2023 State #5 Nation NJ is one of the top ranked players in the Class of 2023. He comes from a program that builds post players at Gill St. Bernard’s and he is the next great one. At 6’7, Mgbako emerged as a dominant scorer and rebounder on both ends. He has a soft touch around the rim and can act as a rim protector on the defensive end. He will continue to perfect his game which is scary for opponents to think about.
Best Combo Guard
The Class of 2023 is very guard heavy at the top with Wagner, Wilcher, Joyner, and Cian Medley Cian Medley 6'0" | PG Camden | 2023 State NJ . One name to keep an eye on is Machado from Saddle Day River. They were a strong program and will continue to be with Machado running the show. He is a guard that can play any of the top three positions on the floor. He is comfortable with the ball in his hands and can also give it up to play on the perimeter.
