Who Runs Dreamville? Final Boys Rankings!

The city of Fayetteville had an outstanding amount of talent which led to one of the more competitive seasons in Cumberland County. The question has been asked for a while now, which teams are the best in the city, well we have the answer for you and legit reasons for those answers as well!

#1 Westover HS (30-0)

The Wolverines earned an appearance in the NCHSAA 3A State Championship before the game ended up being postponed. Westover defeated Northwood HS (Which is a team that defeated Southern Durham twice) in the Regionals as well as defeating Terry Sanford & Pine Forest twice with their second win over PF being 20+.

Team MVP: Junior Guard D’Marco Dunn came to the state and wasted no time in showing that he’s one of the best Guards out. He put together big time performance after performance and colleges have noticed which has led to a high amount of interest and offers. Dunn was also named County Co-Player Of The Year.

#2 Village Christian (22-7)

The Knights picked up some big wins in their non-conference schedule (Word of God X2) and would go on to win their conference championship in a tough league. They beat Terry Sanford by the same amount as #1 Westover did on the road but what dropped Village to #2 was a loss to Southern Durham. Southern Durham is a team that loss to Northwood HS twice (Once by almost 20 points) which is the team that lost to Westover in the regional Championship.

Team MVP: Senior Guard Zavian Mclean was the engine that made this team go from the beginning of the season until the end. He was named County Co-Player Of The Year and will be taking his talent to the Ivy League next year at Columbia University.

#3 Trinity Christian (26-3)

The Crusaders had a tremendous season, losing only to Village & Northwood Temple the entire season. However the two losses to Village bumps them down to the 3rd spot. In the regular season they split but came up short in the conference championship. Their loss to Northwood Temple in the state Semis doesn’t negatively impact their rankings as they defeated NWT twice during the season. Trinity also defeated PFHS by close to double digits but #1 Westover defeated that same PFHS team on the road by 20+ points.

Team MVP: Senior Forward Todd Burtt had a bounce back year after a less than stellar Junior season. He displayed his ability to make plays above the rim as well as knocking down shots from midrange and three point land.

#4 Northwood Temple (23-14)

There schedule was one of the toughest out of this group but their tough non-conference schedule prepared them for all the tough conference battles they would have. As the year went on they got better and played their best basketball at the right time, winning the NCISAA 1A Chip. However their loses to TCS (2X) and Village (1X) cannot be overlooked which is why they drop to #4.

Team MVP: Senior Wing [player_tooltip player_id="572978" first="Reggie" last="Raynor"] was the heart to the team, he plays the game with an extremely high motor and doesn’t take plays off. He will be taking his talent to UNCG and should be a player that makes solid contributions for them over the next four years.

#5 Terry Sanford (18-7)

They dropped some games to a few subpar teams but pretty much showed up every time for the big time matchups. They took Westover and Village to the wire on both occasions but did not come up with the big wins needed to place themselves above the #5 spot.

Team MVP: Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="787668" first="Davis" last="Molnar"] is a a legit D1 prospect that will only get better as time goes on. He can shoot the deep ball but also bang inside the paint for boards as well as distribute the ball to teammates.
