Royal Valley will be loaded as it boasts several of the top sophomores in the league.
Here are the top returners to the Big Seven League:
Nahcs Wahwassuck Nahcs Wahwassuck 6'5" | CG Royal Valley | 2022 State KS , sophomore, Royal Valley:
Wahwassuck was a first-team all-leaguer as a freshman, and he was big time in his second go-round. The 6-foot-4 floor general can do it all. He led the Panthers to a 19-1 regular season mark by scoring 16.6 points per game. But his game is well-rounded, and with his size, he’s a matchup nightmare. Look for Wahwassuck to be one of the state’s best players the next two seasons.
Parker Stone Parker Stone 6'1" | CG Perry-Lecompton | 2021 State KS , junior, Perry-Lecompton:
A slashing scorer, the 6-foot-1 junior is athletic and wants the ball in his hands. He had several 20-point nights playing off a dominant big man in 6-foot-7 senior Blake Farmer Blake Farmer 6'7" | PF Perry-Lecompton | 2020 State KS . Stone averaged 15.1 points in the regular season.
Brady Klotz, sophomore, Royal Valley:
The 6-foot-3 Klotz is not taking a back seat to Wahwassuck by any means. He tallied 10.6 points per game while cleaning up 7.2 rebounds for the Panthers. Klotz was tough come playoff time. He tallied 16 points in a win over Silver Lake and 12 in a bitter 44-43 loss to St. Marys in the sub-state final.
Brevin Canady, junior, Royal Valley:
Canady wasn’t always called upon to score a lot for the loaded Royal Valley club. But he’s a slick ball handler and distributor who led the Panthers in assists. The 6-foot Canady will team with Wahwassuck, Klotz, and another 6-foot-3 sophomore Mason Thomas Mason Thomas 6'4" | SF Royal Valley | 2022 State KS to make the Panthers a beast next season.
Kurtis and Mark Beck, sophomores, Nemaha Central:
These 6-foot-4 twins will be a dominant duo now that senior Andrew Leonard has graduated. They helped carry the Thunder to the state tournament, where they combined for 19 points in a loss to Beloit.
Kale Purcell, junior, Holton:
Purcell was an up-and-down scorer for the Wildcats, who were up and down as a team. But the 6-foot-2 multi-sport star brings athleticism and occasional explosiveness.
