Shooting has become a necessity in the game of basketball. No matter what position on the floor, players must be able to shoot when open and knock down a high percentage, especially from deep. These select players from New York have done that and more. Here are some of the top shooters from the Class of 2021.

[player_tooltip player_id="773429" first="Jaylen" last="Murray"] | Putnam Science

Murray is one of the top players in the class and he does not get there without being a sharp shooter. At 6’0, Murray is a true point guard who uses his IQ and speed to dominate. If he is given any room, he will use his quick release to get a shot off and knock it down. Murray will be one of the most recruited players in the state next season.

Joe Mundan | Scanlan

Mundan is an athletic freak who gets it done in many ways. He is an elite rebounder who uses his vertical to sky for put backs. When given space, Mundan is a strong shooter. He can get shots off flat footed, coming off screens, or off the dribble. He is impossible to miss when watching a Scanlan game and that will not change.

[player_tooltip player_id="773441" first="Jaquan" last="Carlos"] | Jefferson

Carlos is a shifty point guard with great deception when going to the basket. He is very elusive and uses that to his advantage. When he is not going to the rim, Carlos is lighting it up from deep. Carlos does not have the quickest release but it is extremely effective and he has shown the ability to get it off over taller defenders.

[player_tooltip player_id="945522" first="Zaire" last="Wells"] | South Shore

Wells has turned into a top prospect because of his size parlayed with his ability to shoot the ball. At 6’4, Wells has the size to be a guard at the next level and his jump shot seconds that notion. South Shore likes to get the ball in his hands at any time. He brings the ball up the floor or is coming off screens in the midst of their offense.

[player_tooltip player_id="945526" first="Steven" last="Turner"] | South Bronx Prep

The Bronx is known for great basketball and Turner fits the bill. He is a marksman from deep and he has turned that into one of the best parts of his game. At 6’0, Turner knows how to use his size and body to gain an edge against bigger defenders.
