I like to take a look at my annual “Top-5’s”.
Every player has their 1 skill they usually excel at.
It’s just a fun way to take a look at players’ elite skills in different categories.
We move over to the 8 Mid-Range shooters. It is definitely a lost art but I still think it’s a great shot.
Here are my Top-5:
1. Ricardo Sarmiento Ricardo Sarmiento 5'11" | PG Phhoenix Prep | 2021 State AZ (Phhoenix Prep)
-If you ever watched this kid play, you know that his pull-up from mid-range is one of the best on the West Coast. Also is top-notch on-ball defender.
2. Keon Edwards Keon Edwards 6'6" | SF Legacy Early College | 2020 SC (Hillcrest Prep)
-The DePaul commit can basically do it all but his pull-up from mid is polished.
3. Keiren Brown Keiren Brown 6'4" | PG St. Mary’s | 2021 State TX (St. Mary’s)
-A downhill power guard by nature, but if you watched the Final-4 vs Peoria, you know Brown can hit from mid-range.
4. Christian Tucker Christian Tucker 6'3" | CG Perry | 2021 State AZ (Perry)
-A quick scoring guard has a fast pull-up from mid-range.
5. Jevon Humphrey Jevon Humphrey 6'0" | SG Chaparral | 2021 State AZ (Chaparral)
-Another scoring guard loves the mid-range shot. He can make the 3 but is most comfortable from mid.
3 more:
1. Jake Clapper Jake Clapper 6'5" | SF Desert Edge | 2021 State AZ (Desert Edge)
-A guard who has improved every year likes the pull-up game from mid-range.
2. John Solomon John Solomon 6'8" | PF Sarasota Riverview | 2021 State FL (Desert Vista)
-A long forward who can shoot it from elbow and in. Can play above the rim but can make jumpers.
3. Illia Oliinyk (Bella Vista Prep HS)
-A finesse forward can handle it and shoot it from mid-range.
