With the abrupt halt to the 2019-20 season, it’s time to take a look at some of the state’s best players from Division II.

[player_tooltip player_id="919011" first="George" last="Mangas"], Lima Shawnee

The Division II player of the year, [player_tooltip player_id="919011" first="George" last="Mangas"] filled the stat sheet this season for Lima Shawnee, leading his team to an undefeated regular-season record. Still a junior, Mangas averaged 30.4 points per game this past season and even put up a 40-point performance to lead his team to the regional semifinals. He’s grown immensely the past two seasons and expect another strong season from Mangas next year, maybe even generating Mr. Basketball buzz as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="535155" first="Luke" last="Frazier"], Lake Catholic

One of the best playmakers in Northeast Ohio, [player_tooltip player_id="535155" first="Luke" last="Frazier"] played a pivotal part in one of the best regular seasons Lake Catholic has had in quite some time. He averaged 22.2 points per game this season and will continue his playing career at Dayton in the fall. The senior guard ended his high school career as the all-time leader in assists (307) and steals (188) while scoring 1,665 career points.

[player_tooltip player_id="711936" first="Tahj" last="Staveskie"], Sandusky

Leading his team to a record-setting season, [player_tooltip player_id="711936" first="Tahj" last="Staveskie"] was a natural scorer this season for the Blue Streaks. He averaged 25 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, finishing his career with 1,282 total points scored. The 6-foot-guard earned Player of the Year honors in the Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="616817" first="Paul" last="McMillanIV"], Woodward

Maybe the most impressive player on the list, Paul McMilan is just a sophomore guard who ended the season averaging an eye-popping 31.3 points per game this season for Cincinnati Woodward. His dominance on the court was able to translate to Division I offers from schools like Xavier, Dayton and Cincinnati, just to name a few.

[player_tooltip player_id="805146" first="Brayden" last="Sipple"], Blanchester

Another high-scoring threat on the floor, junior guard [player_tooltip player_id="805146" first="Brayden" last="Sipple"] averaged 34 points per game this season for Blanchester. In fact, he scored at least 40 points five different times as well. He put together one of the top statistical seasons for any player in the state this season and has garnered a number of Division I looks throughout the year.

[player_tooltip player_id="800832" first="Luka" last="Eller"], Lake Catholic

Finishing his playing career as Lake Catholic's all-time leading scorer, Luke Eller improved even more as a senior alongside Frazier this season. He averaged 21.8 points this season, finishing his career off with 2,001 career points and 1,003 career rebounds. Eller will continue his playing career at Miami (Ohio).

[player_tooltip player_id="917422" first="Nehemiah" last="Benson"], Lutheran East

The 6-foot-6 senior forward put together an impressive senior campaign for Lutheran East this season. He averaged 21.5 points and 10 rebounds per game, including a 60-point performance in just 23 minutes of action earlier in the season. The Rider commit progressed each year throughout his high school career and helped lead his team back to regionals this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="593905" first="Malaki" last="Branham"], St. Vincent-St. Mary

Branham enjoyed another impressive season for the Fighting Irish as a junior, marked by his 21 points per game as a rising junior. Branham was one of a few stars for St. Vincent-St. Mary this season, helping lead the team to another regional performance. Arguably the best player in his class, Branham has the size, speed and ability to score the ball at-will around the rim. He has offers from schools like Michigan, Xavier, Ohio State, Florida and Louisville.

Honorable mention:

[player_tooltip player_id="800842" first="Carl" last="Blanton"] (Trotwood Madison), [player_tooltip player_id="593932" first="Desmond" last="Watson"] (DeSales), [player_tooltip player_id="917560" first="Caleb" last="Wallis"] (Jackson), [player_tooltip player_id="711936" first="Tahj" last="Staveskie"] (Sandusky), [player_tooltip player_id="593935" first="AJ" last="Braun"](Fenwick), Evan Prater (Wyoming), Otto Kuhns (Bloom-Carroll), [player_tooltip player_id="917608" first="Huston" last="Harrah"] (Lancaster Fairfield Union), Johnathan McCall (Byesville Meadowbrook), Tresean Jackson (East Liverpool), [player_tooltip player_id="918958" first="Josh" last="Irwin"] (West Geauga), Jay Billingsley (Lutheran East), [player_tooltip player_id="574419" first="Quentin" last="Richardson"] (Holy Name)
