2 Stellar Standouts

<p>This is that time of the year that players separate themselves from the pack. This is that time of the year that players come in clutch. This is that time of the year that we love and hate because hearts are broken as one team moves on and another one survives. ,These two standouts exemplify that thought. They were the players that helped their team survive and crushed another teams hopes of a shot of that hard to come by State Championship opportunity. </p> <p><strong>6'10 C Zach Visentin (Springville High School)</strong></p> <p>The big fella was special when he was called upon and when he way needed. When you're trailing by 15 points heading into the fourth quarter there is a saying that coaches like to use, "one possession at a time" you could see how that could be tough when your best players isn't out there casting three's, but stuck on the block. Zach was not only able to help his team claw back but he was able to draw so much help that he created open looks for his teammates and they capitalized. On the defensive end he altered or blocked what seemed to be open looks. In a game that his next highest scoring teammate was held to 4 points Zach was huge. Figurative and literally! He was solid at the free-throw-line as he converted a few old fashioned three-point plays. The Idaho State signee proved to everyone why he is a Division 1 player with untapped potential still. Zach finished with 25 points and 8 rebounds to lead his team to the State Championship game. </p> <p><strong>6'0 G <a href="https://prephoops.com/player/jaxon-santiago/">Jaxon Santiago</a> (Timpview High School)</strong></p> <p>Although Jaxon might not seem like the likely player on paper to have a stellar performance because his teammate <a href="https://prephoops.com/player/coleman-ford/">Coleman Ford</a> and Jake Wahlin combined for 29 points. Through this season and the playoffs Jaxon has been the one player that has come through in the clutch hitting game winning shots. That is exactly what happened last night as two teams went toe to toe and back and forth. Jaxon was the man with the ball in his hands as the clock was ticking away. With an open man passing up a shot to pass to Jaxon as he hit a runner as time expired. The ball rattled around and it almost looked like it was going to bounce out, but that soft touch shot by Jaxon found a way to fall through the net. Jaxon's stellar performance on paper says 6 points but his last two points are likely the most important as he helped his team punch their ticket to the State Final. </p>
