6A Region II Playoffs: Midway vs Longview
<span style="font-size: 1rem;">Round one of Texas State playoffs bi-district showdown, The match-up between Midway Panthers (26-10) and Longview Lobos (24-9) was a high energy contest game full of exciting plays and acrobatic moves. Both teams showed up ready to ball and with a host of fans fired up ready to cheer their teams on with hopes of being the bi-district champs.</span>
<span style="font-size: 1rem;"> Midway Panthers upset the Lobos 63-54 and were named bi-district champs to advance to round two finals to face off with the Allen Eagles on Friday.</span>
Here are my four top prospects from the game:
<strong>6'7 | Senior |Godsgift Ezedinma| </strong> was unstoppable from all areas of the hardwood in the win over the Longview Lobos. Ezedinma's skill set is impressive, as he can score in a variety of ways. He was most consistent from mid-range, but has the ability to make shots behind the arc. Let's not forget his high jumping ability. He had two high flying dunks. The University of the Incarnate Word signee finished the game with 27pts,10reb.
<strong>5'9 | Senior |<a href="https://prephoops.com/player/anthony-scott/">Anthony Scott</a>| </strong>hands-down proven to be one of the top unsigned senior guards still available. Scott has the heart of a lion and speed of a cheetah, he is fearless and has great body control to score after contact. Defensively he loves to pressure the ball and is not afraid to challenge a bigger opponent. This kid plays with a chip on his shoulder and a lot to prove. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets multiple offers during his playoff run to state. Scott finished the game with 22pts,4asst,6reb.
<strong> 6'8| Senior |<a href="https://prephoops.com/player/malik-henry/">Malik Henry</a>| </strong>George Mason signee kept Longview relevant and made all the difference in the game. Henry was the force inside on both ends of the court either scoring or rebounding above the rim. He is a rim protector that cleans up everything that comes off with good footwork, length and runs the floor like a division one player.
<strong>5'9 | Senior |Phillip Washington| </strong> caught my eye quickly with his style of play and his quick passing ability to fit the ball in the smallest space pinpoint on. Washington is a physical guard with a good IQ and plays solid defense.
