Mercer County Tournament: Top Performers Heading into Semi-Finals

<p>The Mercer County Tournament played their quarterfinal round on Friday night. They have cut it down to four and will play the semi-final round on Wednesday night. There has been some big time performances in this tournament thus far. Here are the top performers to this point of the tournament.</p> <p><strong><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/jamir-watkins/"><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/jamir-watkins/">Jamir Watkins</a></a> (2020) | Trenton Catholic</strong></p> <p>It is no surprise to see what the VCU commit has been doing in the first two rounds of the tournament. Watkins finished with 19 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and five blocks in round one against West Windsor-Plainsboro South. If that was not good enough, Watkins out did himself in the quarterfinals. In a 78-66 victory over Allentown, Watkins turned in an incredible performance with 47 points. He was scoring whenever he wanted. Watkins added 12 rebounds and six assists. Trenton Catholic will face No. 1 Hightstown in the semis and they have a great chance led by Watkins.</p> <p><strong>Ben Simon (2020) | Hightstown</strong></p> <p>Simon has been Hightstown's leading scorer all season and he has continued that in the tournament. Simon scored 14 points in round one and followed that up with 21 in the quarterfinals against Princeton Day. Simon has knocked down 14 free throws in two games this tournament. Hightstown is a complete team with shooters who can get hot. To take down Watkins and Trenton Catholic, Simon will have to continue to score at will.</p> <p><strong>Javon Jenkins (2020) | Nottingham</strong></p> <p>Nottingham has been tested throughout this tournament. They are the No. 3 seed and faced No. 14 Steinert in round one. Jenkins scored 13 points in a 62-61 victory. They were tested again in the quarterfinals against Notre Dame. Nottingham picked up a 55-52 win and Jenkins led the way with 22 points.</p> <p><strong>Keith Motusesky (2020) | Robbinsville</strong></p> <p>Robbinsville has picked up two double-digit victories in this tournament. Motusesky led the way in round one with 23 points and four rebounds against West Windsor-Plainsboro North. Against Princeton in the quarterfinals, Robbinsville held them to 29 points. Motusesky scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds. He led the defensive efforts and that will be key moving forward.</p> <p><strong><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/jaylen-britton/"><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/jaylen-britton/">Jaylen Britton</a></a> (2020) | Ewing</strong></p> <p>Ewing had the tough task of playing No. 1 Hightstown in round one. They hung around all game long and ended up losing a 71-56 battle. Britton was the reason that they were in the game at all. He scored 25 points and showed his ability to take over on the offensive end. Britton was getting to the rim with ease. He made nine shots from inside the arc which is very impressive.</p> <p><strong>Ethan Garita (2020) | Princeton Day</strong></p> <p>Garita has been a double-double machine this season. He notched another one in round one against Lawrence. Garita finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead his team into the quarterfinals. In a loss to Hightstown, Garita was one of five players in double-figures with 13 points. He has been a solid player all season and had an impressive tournament.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
