Stivers defeats Northridge 77-58

<p>Stivers came out and took care of business Saturday night beating Northridge 77-58 on Stivers home floor. The Tigers found offensive output from <a href="https://prephoops.com/player/allen-lattimore/">Allen Lattimore</a>, Doug Spears, and Da'Juan Allen. Northridge was pased by Chad Florence. This served as the final matchup for the two teams before tournament starts next week. Below I take a look at the 5 most impressive prospects from the game.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/allen-lattimore/">Allen Lattimore</a> </strong>(2021)- The scrappy guard in the past has played more of a 2-guard, but with the departure of <a href="https://prephoops.com/player/trevon-ellis/">Trevon Ellis</a>, he was forced to run the point for the Tigers. While he is no doubt a nice offensive weapon, I was impressed with his role on the defensive end to start this matchup. With Stivers running a 3-2 zone in this one, Lattimore used his athleticism and longer arms to create problems for the Northridge guards. He threw down a nice dunk on a breakaway dunk and found ways to get in the paint as well.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Da’Juan Allen</strong> (2020)- A tough competitor, Allen has a nice overall offensive game and plays with a ton of heart and drive. Has a lot of bounce for a guard and impressed me with his ability to hit midrange jumpers off the dribble. His ability to rebound the ball at a high level also was impressive to say the least. His decision making on the offensive end needs to improve as he tried to attack in transition without numbers in his favor.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Doug Spears </strong>(2020)- The Stivers senior guard was an offensive nightmare for Northridge in this one. He basically was in the paint at will as he utilized the crossover dribble and blew by opposing defenses over and over again. He, just like Allen, played with a ton of passion on both ends of the floor. If he can develop a consistent jump shot, he could be an even more dangerous scoring threat.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Chad Florence</strong> (2020)- The 6’4 forward was the new name I got to know in this game. He knows how to balance the floor and spaced out away from the ball. Offensively, he was getting all of his points in the paint and mostly on second chance opportunities. While he can score at the rim, I was concerned with the amount of times he faded away from the rim on some second chance shots. He will need to do a better job of utilizing his size and playing straight up on the offensive end.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/cameron-evans/">Cameron Evans</a></strong> (2021)- Evans was the biggest guy on the floor at 6’6. As a post player, he had good hands and good shooting form. His build is impressive and he knows how to use his body against post defenders. My one area of concern is his consistency in finishing as he had several missed layups both contested and uncontested last night.</p>
