Prep Hoops Missouri took a look at a very intriguing non-conference battle on Monday night as Jefferson City Helias made the two-hour trip to St. Louis to take on DeSmet Jesuit. The Crusaders were able to stay in contact with a bigger DeSmet team for three quarters of the game, but the Spartans took over in the fourth quarter and came away with a 65-54 victory.

Here is a look at the "10 Best" from the DeSmet-Helias game:

Best Senior: Marcus Anthony (Helias) - The 6'2" guard scored a game-high 24 points and looked very good after coming off an injury that cost him his junior season. He collects points in a variety of ways as he can attack the basket with strength and score off hard cuts off the ball and in the transition game. He also knocked down a couple of 3-pointers.

Best Junior: Jeremiah Walker (DeSmet) - The 6'2" guard scored 14 points and got the Spartans off to an excellent start with six early points on mid-range jumpers and another 3-pointer in the second quarter. He is a very difficult player to defend off the dribble when he has his game going as he can score at the rim and shake defenders with his spin move. His mid-range jumper is butter.

Best Sophomore: Brian Taylor (DeSmet) - The 6'3" point guard scored a team-high 17 points, with 12 of them coming in the second half. He is a smooth operator who can get into the lane on the bounce and hit open 3-pointers. His length and athleticism is also a problem on the defensive end as he can create steals. He also handed out five assists and hit the offensive boards.

Best Freshman: Desmond White (Helias) - The 5’8” guard provided quickness and good ball handling to go along with his 3-point shot.

Best Shooter: Malcolm Davis (Helias) - The 6’1 2022 shooting guard scored 11 points while making three of his six attempts from 3-point range. He knocked down two consecutive 3-pointers in the third quarter when the Crusaders made a run.

Best Post Player: Sekou Gassama (DeSmet) - The 6’10 2021 forward had a productive night with nine points, 10 rebounds and a couple of blocked shots. He caused all kinds of problems with his size and length around the basket.

Best Bucket Getter: Marcus Anthony (Helias) - See above. Anthony has spent much of his career getting downhill on the drive, but now he can score from just about anywhere.

Best off the Bench: Jackson Neidenbach (DeSmet) - The 6’0 2021 guard provided a big spark off the bench by scoring eight points. He came through with a couple of big 3-pointers during a Spartan run in the second half.

Most Solid Player: Mike Skoff (DeSmet) - The 6’4 2020 forward is an all-purpose player who can handle the ball, pass, play solid defense and provide some toughness. He also came through with 10 points in the fourth quarter.
