Good Things Happening at Heritage High
Redford Dunton surpassed 1,000 points in an overtime victory over Wakefield on Feb. 4. He’s the third Heritage player to achieve the mark since 2017. His teammate Lucas Taylor also received an offer from Wofford this week, his first Division I offer.
Alex Holt earns an offer, list is up to 7
2020 biig man Alex Holt has earned an offer from New Hampshire to start off the month of February. The 6-foot-8 forward is producing 18.2 points, 18.1 rebounds and 4.3 blocks per contest at Lexington High School as his senior season wraps up. He’s an available big man with offers from Radford, Presbyterian, Wingate, Morehead State, Lander and Catawba as well.
Commitments
Salem Baptist Christian forward Zach Shumate has announced his intentions to attend Newberry College. The 6-foot-7 big man has had a strong senior campaign in the paint this season in the TRI-TAC Conference and has a chance to win a conference tournament finals on Friday night.
Burlington School senior guard Ji’Lil Michael will be attending Mars Hill University next season. He announced his decision on the first of February. His brother JaDun will be attending Wichita State next season as well.
Charlotte Latin guard Randy Johnson announced his commitment to Holy Cross on Jan. 27. He’s a strong guard at 6-foot-1 that’s made an impact on both ends this season for the Hawks. He can score on all three levels and does well to create contact and get to the free-throw line.
With the end of the season coming up, here’s a look at some unsigned seniors worth a look that are still available:
Chase Forte – Word of God – Point Guard
Chase Forte is a point guard that’s emerged as more than just a distributor in 2019-20. He’s developed his shot as well as his ability to be a lot more aggressive going to the rim. Forte is one of the top available point guards in the 2020 class. He holds an offer from St. Augustine’s University currently with room for a few more before the season is out. His teammate Quandre Bullock also holds an offer from them as well, another unsigned prospect with talent.
Jajuan Carr – Pender – Guard
6-foot-2 guard Jajuan Carr is slowly turning heads at Pender High School. Carr is an explosive guard that can fill it up from deep and finish above the rim with ease. He’s also responsible for the rise of Jakwon Moore, a 2022 prospect that’s had a productive season on the wing for them. Pender holds offers from Fordham, Presbyterian, USC-Upstate, Rider and East Carolina at the moment. With a big run in the playoffs, he could rake in a few more offers from schools.
Jamahri Harvey – Moravian Prep – Guard
Jamahri Harvey is a combo guard that’s coming into his own in the Moravian Prep rotation this season. Harvey recently put up 25 points in a bounce-back victory against Aspire Academy. He’s an efficient shooter and aggressive getting to the rim when he’s locked in. He holds offers from Charleston-Southern, Eastern Kentucky, UMBC, UIC, Morehead State, Nebraska and a number of other mid-major programs.
Christian Hampton – NW Guilford – Point Guard
Christian Hampton is a strong two-way prospect that gets after it on both ends. He’s an athletic freak that can finish strong above the rim and uses his strength well to get to the cup off the dribble. He’s been a formidable force in NW Guilford’s backcourt this season with forward Dean Reiber, who’s headed to Rutgers. He holds offers from Mount Olive and Catawba.
Dylan Blake – First Flight – Guard
Dylan Blake is one of the premier sharpshooters in the state of North Carolina. He’s amassed over 2,000 points during his career at First Flight High School while also draining a ton of 3-point shots. This season, he’s made 89 3-pointers and had three 40-point games. College coaches should be keen on as the season wraps up.
Kahari Rogers – Liberty Heights – Guard/Wing
Kahari Rogers is an underrecruited prospect at Liberty Heights. The 6-foot-6 versatile wing can knock it down from 3 and create off the dribble. He’s an underrated playmaker on the fastbreak as well. He’s good for grabbing rebounds using out the rim using his length and getting up the floor with relative ease. He holds offers from North Carolina A&T and Hofstra.
Trey Pittman – Greenfield School – Forward/Wing
Trey Pittman is another underrecruited prospect at Greenfield School. He can rebound the ball in bunches and score on all three levels off the catch and off the dribble. His mobility on both ends is his biggest asset which allows him to play multiple spots on the floor. It’s only a matter of time before he gets his due.
