Prospects To Watch: WI Vs. IL Border Battle

<p>As one of the premier events of the high school basketball season in the Midwest, the WI Vs. IL border battle will once again feature multiple elite prospects. Teams from Wisconsin and Illinois will battle for bragging rights on Saturday at The Prairie School.</p> <p>Prep Hoops Wisconsin takes a look at which prospects could help the Badger State gain the upper hand on Illinois. </p> <p><strong><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/logan-landers/"><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/logan-landers/">Logan Landers</a></a> -- Brookfield Academy -- PF</strong></p> <p>Landers, who is ranked as the third-best power forward in Wisconsin's 2021 class, is having a huge junior season. He is putting up 18.4 points per game to go along with 9.4 rebounds per contest.</p> <p>The Brookfield Academy prospect specializes in the paint, but he is just as capable on the wing. Landers forces defenses to pick their poison because he is fine beating teams in whatever way they choose. Look for Landers to have a big impact on Saturday's matchup. </p> <p><strong><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/anthony-washington/"><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/anthony-washington/">Anthony Washington</a></a> -- Madison East -- SG</strong></p> <p>Washington wants to make sure that people haven't forgotten about him. Although he has led Madison East to an impressive 10-3 record, the Purgolders are not getting the respect that they deserve. Washington and his teammates will have a chance to change the narrative this weekend when they take on Marian Catholic.</p> <p>The SG would also greatly benefit from a solid individual performance. Washington remains unsigned, despite being ranked as 11th best prospect in Wisconsin's 2020 class. </p> <p>If Washington and East are able to take care of business, many people will be forced to remember that this squad can challenge for a Division One state title. </p> <p><strong><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/malik-abdul-wahid/"><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/malik-abdul-wahid/">Malik Abdul-Wahid</a></a> -- Brookfield Central -- SF</strong></p> <p>If Abdul-Wahid gets going, it is all over. The Brookfield Central small forward is currently averaging a modest 11.7 points through 15 games. While these are not eye-popping numbers, the Winona State commit has shown some signs of a potential breakout approaching. In his last three games, Abdul-Wahid has scored 52 points. </p> <p>If Abdul-Wahid can hit his stride, there is a good chance that he and his Lancer teammates will be hoisting the Gold Ball in March once again. </p> <p>Brookfield Central will play Deerfield at 5:00 PM on Saturday. </p> <p><strong><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/antuan-nesbitt/"><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/antuan-nesbitt/">Antuan Nesbitt</a></a> -- The Prairie School -- SG</strong></p> <p>Nesbitt is one of the most productive guards in the state. Scoring 19.1 points per game, Nesbitt leads The Praire School in scoring per game. As an athletic prospect who can score, rebound, and defend, Nesbitt should be considered a gem by multiple college basketball programs. </p> <p>Playing in his home gym, the SG should be in for a big game when The Praire School plays host to Chicago Perspective. </p> <p><strong><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/delaware-hale/"><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/delaware-hale/">Delaware Hale</a></a> -- Sun Prairie -- SF</strong></p> <p>Sun Prairie always seems to be in the hunt for a Division One state championship. And this year is no different. <a href="https://prephoops.com/player/delaware-hale/">Delaware Hale</a>, who scored 12.7 points per game on last year's state runner-up team, has returned for his senior season. The small forward remains one of Wisconsin's biggest sleepers. Through 13 games this year, Hale is putting up 15.3 points per contest. </p> <p>Hale and SP will face off against Antioch on Saturday at 6:30 PM.  </p> <p><strong><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/terrance-thompson/"><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/terrance-thompson/">Terrance Thompson</a></a> -- La Crosse Central -- PF</strong></p> <p>His numbers are solid, but if you didn't know any better, you might assume that Thompson is just another role player who stands in the shadow of La Crosse Central's <a href="https://prephoops.com/player/johnny-davis/"><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/johnny-davis/">Johnny Davis</a></a>. </p> <p>Let me tell you, Thompson is much more than a sidekick. The PF is currently holding on to scholarship offers from eight Division One college basketball programs. He is an extremely valuable piece on a very talented La Crosse Central squad. </p> <p>Thompson will look to prove his merit on Saturday.
