Farmville MLK Day Showcase Top Performers
<p><em>Another year is in the books for the Farmville Central MLK Day showcase, and once again the event was filled with a nice amount of sleeper talent. We jump right in and take a look at the players that performed at the highest level throughout the day.</em></p>
<p><strong>First Flight HS Senior Guard Dylan Blake:</strong> Put together the best performance of the day with a 40 point showing against a strong Greene Central squad. Although his squad got off to a slow start and faced a deficit in the first half, he took over in the third quarter scoring 21 points in that period and would make play after to play to get his team back in it. D2 programs should absolutely be offering him, he’s the type of player that will be a big time asset on and off the court and will only get better over the years.<br />
<strong>Riverside-Williamson Sophomore Wing Avion Pinner</strong>: D1 College coaches should put his name on their watchlist. Pinner is a player that we got the chance to see as an 8th grader and the strides that he’s made in the past 3 years have been outstanding. College wing height to go along with a long wingspan and a nice skillset, he has all the tools that you look for in a young prospect. He finished with 20 Points in a loss to a Farmville Central team that is absolutely loaded. <br />
<strong>Farmville Central Senior Guard Justin Wright:</strong> Arguably the best PG in NC, you know what you’re going to get from him just about every time he plays. A physical guard that can play through any type of contact as well as knocking down shots from beyond college three point shooting range, Wright is a special player without a doubt. <br />
<strong>North Lenoir Senior Guard Trey Hawkins:</strong> Provided a nice amount of scoring for his team, knocking down shots from deep but getting into the paint as well. He doesn’t have the most height but would fit in well as a SG at a smaller college. <br />
<strong>Greene Central Senior Guard Kentrell Suggs:</strong> He led his squad in scoring on the day with 24 Points, but what was really impressive was the efficiency he scored the ball with. Knocking down shots from three point land, one dribble pull up shots and getting to the paint to finish above the rim were all things we saw from him. Colleges that are looking for a wing player that can score the ball at a nice rate should give him a call.</p>
