DEFOREST -- In a battle between two Badger North Conference title contender, DeForest (8-2) pulled out a 60-54 win over Reedsburg (10-1) on Thursday...

Will Fuhrmann - 2020 - G - Reedsburg

It felt like half of the WIAC was there to watch Fuhrmann on Thursday. After a quiet start, Fuhrmann got loose in the second half to help Reedsburg pull within striking distance. A skilled, high-IQ guard that does just about everything on the floor, Fuhrmann is the primary scorer, facilitator, rebounder, and sometimes defender for the Beavers. While he didn't shoot as well as he's capable of, Fuhrmann finished with 16 points, most of which came in the final 6-7 minutes. Fuhrmann may have tried to shoot himself out of the slump a little too much, but he still was able to create plenty of high quality looks. A three-level scorer, Fuhrmann looked really good off the bounce, especially from mid-range using a series of hesitations and fakes to free himself.

Deven Magli - 2022 - W - DeForest

This is the x-factor for the Norskies. Magli did have 13 points, but his impact goes beyond scoring. Magli brings a ton of energy and hustle to the floor and makes momentum-changing plays. Never giving up on a play, Magli scored on putbacks, created turnovers, and grabbed key offensive and defensive rebounds. He's listed at 6-foot-1, but Magli plays much bigger than his size and is a plus-athlete who can get above the rim.

Trey Schroeder - 2020 - PG - DeForest

As he often does, Schroeder showed up in the key moments of the ball game. The senior guard had a tough step-back 3-pointer and a couple of physical drives to the rim to help DeForest pull out the win. His football background also made an appearance as Schroeder threw a pass the length of the floor to a streaking teammate in the second half. Schroeder pitched in with nine points. He would have easily been in double figures, but didn't get some calls around the rim.

Max Tully - 2020 - SG - Reedsburg

Tully had a team-high 17 points and did a nice job defensively against DeForest's leading scorer. Tully posted a double-double with 10 rebounds and was an efficient 8-of-14 shooting. The senior guard did a nice job of working his way into the paint, playing through contact, and able to finish around the rim or in the 8-10 foot range. A blue collar player, Tully scores without a lot flash. He just puts the ball on the deck, puts his head down, and often wills the ball in the hole.

Max Weisbrod - 2022 - G - DeForest

He only finished with eight points, leaving some on the board on in-close misses at the rim that he'll normally finish, but Weisbrod has definitely taken a nice jump from his freshman to sophomore year. Weisbrod is a lot more skilled with the basketball in his hands. DeForest likes to allow Weisbrod to run the show and even over-dribble at times, knowing he's going to take care of the basketball and eventually create a high percentage look for himself or a teammate. Weisbrod is listed at 6-foot-1, but has some added length. He's a good perimeter shooter and now that he's a little more athletic and quicker off the bounce, he's becoming a tough defensive assignment.
