Cornerstone University Holiday Tournament: All-Gold Division

<p>Cornerstone University hosted West Michigan's biggest holiday hoops tournament, consisting of 16+ teams from around the area. The Gold division featured Wayland Union, Godwin Heights, Covenant Christian and Zeeland West.</p> <h6><em><strong>Results</strong></em></h6> <h6><em>Semi-finals</em></h6> <h6><em>Godwin Heights 60, Wayland Union 50</em></h6> <p>Godwin Heights outscored Wayland Union 20-7 in the fourth quarter to win it's first game of the season. Freshman duo Jakhary Towns and Damarie Thompson combined for 41 points in the semi-final win.</p> <h6><em>Covenant Christian 67, Zeeland West 62</em></h6> <p>Covenant Christian snuck past Zeeland West in a semi-final, led by Zack Gritters' 22 points. Cornerstone University committ Eli Steffen was plagued by foul trouble, but still managed to put up 21 points in only 25 minutes.</p> <h6><em>Consolation Game</em></h6> <h6><em>Zeeland West 74, Wayland Union 48</em></h6> <p>In the consolation game, Zeeland West cruised past Wayland 74-48. The Dux had another strong performance from Steffen, who scored 25 points on 9-13 from the field. Kyle Meulenberg had a strong performance, adding 15 points and 11 rebounds.</p> <h6><em>Final</em></h6> <h6><em>Covenant Christian 63, Godwin Heights 49</em></h6> <p>In the championship game, Covenant Christian put the clamps on Godwin Heights, allowing 49 points on 37% shooting. Covenant's Christian Mulder shot 9-12 from the field, leading the Chargers with 21 points.
