Brophy @ Chaparral: 10 observations

<p>Brophy College Prep stormed into Chaparral and emerged with a 75-59 solid victory over the defending 6A runner-up. Here are ten observations from the game:</p> <p><strong>Kayden Davis can defend:</strong></p> <p>The Brophy junior played great on-ball defense on opposing guards all night.</p> <p><strong>Davis can also pass:</strong></p> <p>His dishes were impactful in Brophy's half-court offense that worked so well.</p> <p><strong>Jordan Josephs has some hops:</strong></p> <p>The Chaparral senior started the game off with a powerful dunk and kept scoring around the rim.</p> <p><strong>Basil Ribakare set good screens:</strong></p> <p>It's not something a lot of guys take pride in, but the Bronco senior did a great job of it. That allowed the guards to do well and make big plays.</p> <p><strong>He plays bigger than his size:</strong></p> <p>By no means is Ribakare short, but he used good positioning and footwork to outduel guys who were bigger than him in size and stature.</p> <p><strong>Markes Siekman is a hustler:</strong></p> <p>The Chap junior always boxed out and hustled for rebounds. It seemed like most of the time that he had a chance to collect one, he did.</p> <p><strong>Brophy's half-court defense played well because of its length:</strong></p> <p>Nobody is particularly giant, but guys like <strong>Miles Nash, Desi Burrage </strong>and <strong>Roosevelt Bryant</strong> can switch on everything effectively and it makes the Broncos dangerous.</p> <p><strong>Speaking of Burrage, he scored a lot:</strong></p> <p>Whether it was threes or layups, he consistently put the ball in the basket at a high rate.</p> <p><strong>Josephs is Chaparral's energy guy:</strong></p> <p>Beside one of their simply best overall players, he is the one that got the team hyped with a few dunks and layups, and his demeanor transferred to the rest of the guys.</p> <p><strong>Matthew Whisler can shoot:</strong></p> <p>He knocked down several shots from outside when he had the opportunity, though the Broncos began guarding him a little tighter because of it.</p>
