SEMO Conference Tournament: Top Wings

Prep Hoops Missouri takes a look at the top wings from last week’s SEMO Conference Tournament:

Doreante Tucker 6’2 Cape Girardeau Central: The slashing 2020 was impressive in leading the Tigers to the tournament championship. Even when defenders knew he was going to drive, he would get to the basket anyway because he could go left or right and at different speeds. His mid range jumper was also money and he will also knock down a 3-pointer to keep the defense honest. He scored 24 points in the championship game victory over Sikeston.

Quayv’aun Harrell 6’3 Kennett: The long, athletic wing was one of the most impressive bucket getters in the tournament. He attacked the basket and scored on drives and pulled up to knock down 3-pointers. He had a 14-point third quarter to spark an upset victory over No. 2 seed Cape Notre Dame in the first round. He also scored 31 points in the third place game against Charleston.

Justice Thoma 6’4 Cape Notre Dame: The physical 2020 wing showed his toughness during the week when he took an elbow to the head that required seven stitches in the emergency room after a game. Then, he came back the next game and did not miss a beat. He has the best mid-range game in the region with a power dribble and the ability to elevate and shoot at the peak of his jump. He also had some explosive finishes at the rim with slam dunks. His all-around talents help lead the Bulldogs to a 3-1 record and the consolation championship.

Samuel Bledsoe 6’2 Charleston: The 2020 sharpshooter was on fire during the tournament as he averaged close to 20 points to lead the Bluejays to a third place finish. He displayed shooting range from well beyond the 3-point line. He also mixed in some dribble drive moves to compliment his perimeter shot.

Kendrick Brown 6’3 Poplar Bluff: An athletic slashing wing who is one of two returning starters from last season's very successful team. Brown was at his best when he was attacking the basket off the dribble, where he could finish in the lane. He was also very good in the transition game where he could get out and showcase his athleticism in the open court.

Joseph Hardimon 6’0 Poplar Bluff: The 2021 shooting guard missed much of last season and the summer with injuries, but he is back and ready to make an impact as a junior. He is a physical guard who is strong with the basketball and able to play through the contact to get where he wants to go. His perimeter jumper has continued to improve to give him another offensive weapon.

Ben McMullan 6'2" Kennett: The 2022 shooting guard was one of the most impressive perimeter shooters during the tournament. He had a very good stroke from 3-point range with a quick release and a lot of confidence. He provided a nice compliment to teammate Quavy'aun Harrell's scoring prowess as he provided space and driving lanes with his shooting.
