Riverstone International School Prospects

<p>Last Tuesday I went to Riverstone International school and watched them play against Idaho City. The Riverstone Otters went on a scoring spree and blew the Wildcats out of the water  73-33. Everyone on the team scored; I saw the potential for their team to do well this season, as well as prospects for college. The Otters lost their second game of the season to Garden Valley, but if they are able to improve as a team, run a consistent offense, and play aggressive defense, I think they will serve as a real threat this season. During the game, I saw some great steals, shots, passes, and some dunks by two different players. Here are some players that can be developed into excellent athletes. </p> <p><strong>Charlie DeBoer     Jr/SF,SG/00</strong></p> <p>Charlie finished the game with 9 points on two 3 pointers, a free throw, and a dunk. He didn't even shoot the ball till the 3rd quarter, but on one of the plays he blocked a layup off the backboard then passed it down the court for a layup. He also threw down a nasty one-handed jam in traffic. He seems like a passionate player and a good 3 point shooter if he's on. I am disappointed to say that none of these players' heights are listed, but I know three of them can dunk with ease and have to be in the 6'3-6'6 range. Charlie looks like he could be a versatile player since he is also a fair ball handler. </p> <p><strong>Niko Nenov     So/SF/24</strong></p> <p>Niko Nenov is another player who offers height, blocks, steals, and boards. He finished the game with 11 points on a lot of drives, post shots, and a steal and one-handed dunk on the other end. For only being a sophomore and watching him play I think he has potential, as long as he stays aggressive and works on his game. </p> <p><strong>Nick Liebich    Jr/SF,C/11</strong></p> <p>Nick finished the game with 14 points, a lot of them being in the paint. He is the tallest player out there and gets down the court pretty well for a big man. He has a smooth baby hook post shot and takes care of the ball. You can count on him for the dish or a good pass to the PG. I see the potential of him playing college ball as well. </p> <p><strong>Spencer Baird   Jr/PG,SG/2          Ben Hanson-Kaplain   Jr/PG,SG/22</strong></p> <p>These two players are both quick, great ball handlers, and offer the Otters speed, assists, control of the offense, and scoring as well. They both finished the game with 4 points. I believe they are decent shooters, but I didn't get to see them shoot too often. Time will tell in the next games to come. </p> <p>Everyone on the team played unselfishly in their win over the Wildcats, which is why they were able to beat them substantially. I hope they keep up the good work and all continue to improve on their game. Attending a private school, I'm not sure what their next plans are, but if they continue to work on their game I'm sure some of them will be interested in playing at the collegiate level. Although competition isn't as high in 1A basketball, I can see these players making it to Division III or better! Anything is possible and they are definitely worth keeping an eye on through this season and the next. </p> <p><strong>  </strong></p>
