Trevor Ariza Tip-Off Classic: Day 4’s top-flight semifinals

<p>  LOS ANGELES – A sensational set of championship bracket semifinals are on tap Friday evening during the Trevor Ariza Classic at Westchester High.</p> <p>  In the first of the semis, at 6:30, the host Comets and the St. Bernard Vikings put their unbeaten records on the line in a showdown of programs from schools located two not blocks apart.</p> <p>   Each squad is loaded with gifted newcomers, notably 6-foot-3 <strong>T.J. Wainwright</strong> (pictured/via Santa Monica) of the Comets and 6-4 <strong>Reese Dixon-Waters</strong> (by way of Dorsey) of the Vikings.</p> <p>    In the second semi, Etiwanda and Heritage Christian (which, like St. Bernard, are part of the Dec. 26-30 Classic at Damien) hook up at 7:50.</p> <p>    The 22-point win against Washington Prep Wednesday was the tighten margin of victory for Etiwanda during its 7-0 start.</p> <p>  Heritage rallied to knock off Bishop Montgomery Tuesday night, 59-54.</p> <p>   There should be some intriguing individual matchups in that one, coming from the likes of 6-4 junior <strong>Jahmai Mashack</strong> and seniors <strong>Camren Pierce</strong> and <strong>Tyree Campbell</strong> vs., potentially, 6-3 sophomore<strong> Skyy Clark</strong>, junior <strong>Justin Rochelin</strong> and sophomore <strong>Max Allen </strong>of Heritage Christian.</p> <p>   The championship game is set for 7:30 Saturday night.</p> <p>   There are some other nifty teams in action earlier Friday:</p> <p>  Santa Monica faces Renaissance Academy at 2:30 and Bishop Montgomery plays Washington prep at 3:50 in fifth-place semifinals; while Long Beach Poly takes on Gardena at 5:10 in a consolation semifinal.</p> <p>  The latter game could see a lot of head-up play between two of Southern California’s top juniors, <strong>Peyton Watson</strong> of Poly and <strong>Chris Page</strong> of Gardena.</p>
