Chief Sealth Jamboree Top Performers

<p>High school basketball tipped off this past weekend with three jamborees featuring prominent teams in the greater Seattle area. Eight teams - Vashon, Roosevelt, Auburn Riverside, Shelton, Northwest, Lynnwood, Sultan, and Chief Sealth - met at Chief Sealth International High School, and each team played two ten-minute games for the preseason jamboree. It's difficult to make much of an impact in such a short amount of time, but several athletes still found ways to impress.</p> <p><span style="color: #f75617;"><strong><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/alex-pape/">Alex Pape</a>, PG, Roosevelt (2021)</strong></span></p> <p>The 6'2" Junior had a strong performance in the team's win against Vashon Island. In ten minutes he scored eight points with a smooth 3-pointer and easy lay-ins off smart plays. He has solid court vision, distributes the ball effortlessly, and is active on the defensive end. Despite his thin frame, Alex showed off his ability to play through contact as well as some impressive bounce during pregame warm-ups. *Featured Image</p> <p><span style="color: #f75617;"><strong>Isiah Gulchuck, G, Auburn Riverside (2022)</strong></span></p> <p>Auburn Riverside's 5'9" guard had his fingerprints all over his team's games. Isiah is only a Sophomore, but his hustle made him a stand out at the jamboree. His activity on defense led to several steals and turnovers, he pulled down more than his fair share of rebounds, and he got to the rim for easy buckets. The undersized guard has a motor that won't quit.</p> <p><span style="color: #f75617;"><strong>Taien Jackson, G, Chief Sealth (2022)</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 1rem;">Jackson was another underclassman that caught my attention in Cheif Sealth's game against Vashon Island. On the offensive end of the court, Jackson showed off his confidence in his mid-range game, pulling up off the dribble for a couple of smooth baskets, and coming out of a timeout, he caught a back-door lob for an easy lay-in. The 6'1" guard has a strong body and he has a feel for the game that he showed off on both ends of the court.</span></p> <p><span style="color: #f75617;"><strong>Connor Mirick, G, Roosevelt (2020)</strong></span></p> <p>Roosevelt's Senior shooting guard and team captain has great court awareness and a nice shooting stroke. <span style="font-size: 1rem;">Mirick has great length that helped him create turnovers and steals on defense. </span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">At 6'4", Mirick is a spot-up shooter, but he also showed off his ability to create with the ball in his hands as well as the confidence to pull from deep three-point range. </span></p>
