Nevada Player Rankings: C/O 2022 Breakout Players

You could argue that sophomore year is the most important in a player's career. A year under their belt to learn the ropes and now it's time to shine. The sophomore class in Nevada is filled with several talented players including many that are nationally ranked. In this article PH wants to focus on some of the players that may be ready for a breakout year, and poised to have their names mentioned among the best. Gavin Douglass 6'5 SF Boulder City Best Skill: Defensive versatility Best Team Asset: Can guard multiple positions Breakout Potential 1- 10: 5 Only thing keeping Douglass from having a higher breakout potential, is that he has two players, in front of him that play the exact same position. Because of the versitility of Morton and Speaker, it is very possible that all three can be on the floor at the same time. I'm really high on Boulder City this season, and Douglass may end up being a key contributor on a championship caliber team. Bryant Lagarady 6'6 SF Canyon Springs Best Skill: Rebounding Best Team Asset: Length and Rim Protection Breakout Potential 1- 10: 5 The only thing holding Lagardy back is a consistent motor and opportunity. Like many young players, he is still learning how good he can be. Canyon Springs has guys, he simply needs to contribute with rebounding and defense. His BP is currently a 5 only because I'm not %100 sure he is going to see significant minutes. Corbin Dargons 6'5 PF Legacy Best Skill: Shooting Best Team Asset: Stretches the floor Breakout Potential 1- 10: 6 Legacy lacks both size and shooting, Dargons provides both. He should get a legit opportunity to make an impact for this team. If he can produce on the defense end and help with rebounding consistently, then his breakout potential increases. Miles Mitchell 5'11 SG Cimarron Best Skill: Shooting Best Team Asset: Offensive production Breakout Potential 1- 10: 7 Mitchell has touched a nerve with me. I watched him play a lot this fall and what stood out the most was that he got better every game. Cimarron needs scoring, and Mitchell can definitely provide that. Coach Branham doesn't allow anyone on the floor if they're not willing to play defense. If Mitchell buys in on that end, expect him to have a breakout year. Aaron Price 6'5 PF Liberty Best Skill: Finishing Best Team Asset: Athleticism and 2nd chance points Breakout Potential 1- 10: 7 If Price plays, then he will have a breakout season no doubt about it. He has the kind of size and athleticism that is in high demand at the prep level. Liberty is absolutely loaded, and dosen't need to count on him for scoring. However, Price's ability to be a star in his role during his time on the floor will go a long way to determining his BP. Isaiah Belch 6'3 SF Foothill Best Skill: Basketball IQ Best Team Asset: Overall Versatility Breakout Potential 1- 10: 8 Belch is an unassuming player that understands how to play the game. His best skill is his overall versatility mainly because he produces in a variety of ways. He's also a knock down shooter that can provide instant offense for the Falcons. Fredy Vargas 6'0 SG Rancho Best Skill: Shooting Best Team Asset: Stretches the floor Breakout Potential 1- 10: 9 If Vargas is healthy, he will have a breakout year. He's simply to good and the situation is to perfect. Rancho will need someone to replace the scoring of James Brown. Vargas is the perfect candidate. He wraps a tremendous skill - set around the ability to shoot the ball. IMO he is going to put up numbers to good to be ignored.
