Recruiting Report: Matthew Lentz (2021)

<p>The Tampa Bay area has a junior that is on the rise.</p> <p>6'6", 205-pound Matthew Lentz is a 2021 prospect who suits up for Durant. He's fresh off a steady summer playing for Team Parsons and his jumper has become more consistent while his all-around slashing has been on display often. At the Top 250 Expo early last month in Daytona, he was routinely getting to the basket and hitting from deep.</p> <p>Lentz discussed his sophomore campaign and what he is planning on doing this fall.</p> <blockquote> <p>"I matured the most in my ability to play team basketball. Last year was my first season on a high school team, so I had to learn to deal with what comes with being a part of a real team both on and off the court," Lentz told Prep Hoops. "I’m looking forward to working as hard as possible in everything I do and that rubbing off on my teammates."</p> </blockquote> <p>He touched on what it was like to play for Team Parsons this past summer.</p> <blockquote> <p>"Playing with Team Parsons this summer opened my eyes to playing basketball at a high level. Being around a group of guys with the same goals as me really pushed me to continue to develop and get better," he said. "My confidence grew throughout the summer knowing that I belong and if I continue to work hard I will reach my goals."</p> </blockquote> <p>No offers have come yet but Lentz says Temple and St. Leo have shown interest thus far. He said colleges like his mix of shooting ability, size and potential.</p> <p>In terms of his top strengths, Lentz alluded to his shooting, size, athleticism and constant communication on the court. He's working on his physical strength, ballhandling and leadership. </p> <p>On display, all summer was Lentz's pure love of the game along with his endless length, smarts, seasoned jumper and cutting ability. He's been able to dunk quite a bit as well.
