Prospect Spotlight: Caleb Turner (2020 Aloha HS)

<p><strong>Caleb Turner</strong> is aiming high. The skilled 6-foot-1, 155-pound combo guard has been solid at Aloha High School, leading the Warriors in scoring last season. But Turner wants to keep on playing hoops long after his senior season and he spent his off-season trying to move toward where he wants the game to take him in the future.</p> <p>"I've been working really hard trying to get to the next level," Turner said. "I'm a pretty good shooter right now so I've been working on my handles so at the next level I don't get picked. I'm also working on my defense and my IQ and everything."</p> <p>Turner spent the summer playing AAU ball with Oregon Basketball Club and enjoyed the experience. In the fall, he got a chance to participate in the PrepHoops Oregon Top 250 Expo as well. "A lot of top players were there that I was familiar with and it was good to go up against nice competition," Turner said. "It was a good experience for me."</p> <p>Turner has garnered a little bit of college recruiting interest, having heard mainly from Barry University and Cal Lutheran. He's hopeful more looks will happen during the season and with an ultimate goal in mind, is keeping things wide open. "I want to play overseas or in the G-League - that type of level," Turner said. "I'm trying to go for a business major if basketball doesn't work out, but basketball is definitely my #1 goal."</p> <p>A good all-around athlete - he's been a sprinter on the Aloha track team (his mom is a coach) and he went out for football for the first time this year - Turner has a fairly nice jumper and has the quickness to create and get to the hoop. He remains under the radar largely because Aloha didn't necessarily have much success last year, but he believe 2019-20 will be different.</p> <p>"We're going to be a force to be reckoned with this year," Turner said. "We're definitely going to be better than last year. We've got more depth from our young guys stepping up and we've got a lot of returners. My individual goal is definitely to be First Team All-Metro this year."</p> <p>Turner currently ranks as the #61 player in the updated PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2020 rankings.</p>
