The Top 10 Central Ohio Perimeter Defenders consistently demonstrate athleticism, IQ, and will power.

Trevell Adams (2020) | 5-10 PG | Columbus South

Adams is a special athlete. His burst allows him to stay in front or, in the rare instances he gets beat, recover. Blocks shots when defending the drive — in position to be there for the block and the bounce to go get it. Very smart player who stays in position.

Matt Allocco (2020) | 6-4 PG | Bradley

Allocco possesses a considerable size advantage at the point of attack. His length and foot speed will allow him to be an impact defender in the Ivy League. However, that size allows him to defend wings for Bradley, while their two other guards deal with opposing backcourts. Active arms. Defends inside without fouling.

CJ Anthony (2020) | 6-0 PG | Harvest Prep

Competitive guard with a strong, low center of gravity. Stays in front and forces opponents to make shots over the top while he crowds. Awesome on help-side, too, where Anthony draws charges frequently. Cuts off drives with his chest. Averaged 4.2 steals last season.

Marcus Johnson (2020) | 6-3 SF | Columbus South

Johnson is a quick-twitch athlete who can stay in front of small, quick guards for 94 feet. He's equally capable of defending forwards at the high school level, using his vertical ability to block shots and out-rebound them. Beats ball-handlers to their spots. Athletic shot-blocker.

Sean Jones (2022) | 5-9 PG | Gahanna

Dribbling the ball up the floor against Jones is a risky proposition. He's lightning-quick side-to-side, not to mention the speed of his hands. While opponents may be able to shoot over Jones, he makes getting into position to do so about as difficult as possible.

AJ Mirgon (2021) | 5-11 PG | Bradley

Mirgon does admirable work on- and off-ball. He's great at planting and changing directions, which allows him to defend side-to-side attacks and recover/close-out against shooters. Very locked in and fundamentally sound with everything he does. Plus rebounder at 5-foot-11.

DJ Moore (2022) | 6-3 G | Worthington Christian

Powerful guard who stays in front and forces guards to take tough shots and throw errant passes. He has a physical advantage most nights, which doesn't allow teammates to find a rhythm. Capable of defending an assortment of perimeter players.

Isaac Settles (2021) | 6-5 SG | Thomas Worthington

Settles' speed and size are huge advantages. He's very good at chasing off-ball guards around screens and, generally, not allowing them to catch the ball. When they do catch, he slides his feet quickly and shuts off drives. Expends a lot of his energy on defense. Provides rebounding, too.

Tahleik Walker (2020) | 6-2 G | Pickerington Central

Walker is the most underrated prospect on this list, simultaneously maybe the best defensive specialist here too. He's a technician when it comes to being in position, using his length to contest shots, and making ball-handlers pick up their dribble. Impacts the game on help-side, too, with an occasional steal. Plays with poise regardless of situation.

Garner Wallace (2021) | 6-5 SF | Pickerington Central

Wallace truly shuts guys down. Usually assigned to the other team's best perimeter scorer, Wallace has the athleticism and size to stay in front of anyone. Able to tightly defend the quick small point guards, where his size becomes their issue. Rebounds well and gathers quick points by leaking out when he can.
