Hoop Exchange Fall Festival: Individual Standouts

While the team-groups definitely displayed some great play, the 2019 Hoop Exchange Fall Festival saw a great deal of individual players looking to gain some extra exposure before the high school season, starts. Check out part two a few names who stood out amongst the rest, this past Saturday.

Nas Mann - The Villages 2021: This 6’3” guy is ready to be a focal point for the Buffalo, this year. He really caught my attention for his play on the defensive end. He’s great at forcing steals & turnovers in the half-court. Does a great job at getting his hands on the ball without fouling. During the fastbreak, he can take contact then the entire way & still finish strong at the rim. Liking the energy.

Osei Price - Pembroke Pines Charter 2020: A quiet, yet intense player on the floor, the 6’5” Price made his mark by hitting the trey, showing the springs in his legs with a few slams, and being sure that he sprinted the floor, in-transiton. Boast’s a 3.9 GPA. No plays off for, Price.

Dezreion Dailey - Vanguard 2020: Dailey should be an X-Factor for the Knights this upcoming season. The 6’4” wing seems like he rarely gets gassed out on the floor, and really has a solid handle on the fast-break using the left. He has the hops to snag tough rebounds and flush it at the rim. Look out for his senior year.

Javen Smith - Pembroke Pines Charter 2021: Really loved the unselfishness he showed throughout the day. It shouldn’t be ignored that he’s a solid passer/assister in the half-court—good vision. He can shoot the three, and weave his 6’0” frame throughout the D and finish with the best of them.

Joe Poyser - Wildwood 2021: Poyser was absolutely tough on the defensive end when it came down to guarding the post. He keeps his hands off, but plays stout. Walked away with a few blocks, as well. The 6’4” Poyser will box out to earn his boards. On offense, he was able to get his points, but Joe’s vision showed with the way he passed to his cutters for quick buckets. Holding a 3.5 GPA, I look for him to be a leader at Wildwood.

Kai Farlin - FSU High 2021: This 6’5” forward could do no wrong on the floor. Out of this group, Farlin had the purest midrange jumper—really has a shooter’s touch. He’s another long-armed wing that can really put the rock on the ground & dribble with purpose. Farlin’s definitely a hustler, loves to get his teammates involved.

Kanye Jones - Windemere 2021: The 6’4” guard really asserted himself on the drive & attacked the rim to get his points. He’s another guy that can flush it at the rim. On the defensive side, his hands are quick, and he can swipe for a steal at any moment. Love the fact that he has a 3.7 GPA. Windemere has a cerebral hooper on their hands.
